WESTON'S LADY

Bobbi Smith

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  Historical Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Come One! Come All!

To Weston’s Wild West Texas Stampede

There were Cowboys and Indians, trick riding, thrills and excitement for everyone. And if Liberty Jones had anything to say about it, she would be a part of the show, too. She had demonstrated her expertise with a gun by shooting a playing card out of Reed Weston’s hand at thirty paces, but the arrogant owner of the stampede wouldn’t even give her a chance.

Disguising herself as a boy, Libby wrangled herself a job with the show, and before she knew it Reed was firing at her—in front of an audience. It seemed an emotional showdown was inevitable whenever they came together, but Libby had set her sights on Reed’s heart and she vowed she would prove her love was every bit as true as her aim.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
“Libby, if you’re unhappy, how will you convince the audience that you’re enjoying what you’re doing in the show? Tell me what’s wrong. Let me help you.”
Libby stared up at Reed, mesmerized by the emotion she saw in his expression. Were the tenderness and concern there real? She would have to trust him—but the realization stopped her cold.
Reed took a step closer. She looked so beautiful. She was like no other woman he’d ever met. True, she had deceived him by hiring on as a boy, but he understood now. Desperation had been driving her. There was something in her past terrible enough to frighten her into running away, and he wanted to save her from it. Reed felt an overwhelming need to take her in his arms. He knew he would protect her with his very life.
“Libby—” He reached out to her and drew her to him.
Libby wanted to believe Reed was a good and honorable man. As he enfolded her in his strong, warm embrace, she found herself wanting to lean against him and be safe.
His lips sought hers then, and she gasped at the contact so sweet and so powerful. His kiss was heavenly, and she gave herself over to the full pleasure of his touch. When he parted her lips and tasted her more deeply, she groaned in excitement. Desire coursed through her, and she clung to him, thrilling at his nearness.
Reed marveled at how perfectly she fit against him. It seemed as if they were made for each other.
GENRE: Historical Romance (Regency)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Jessamine Goodfellow has spent six Seasons avoiding the parson’s trap, and spinsterhood is finally within her grasp. A brilliant scholar, she longs for adventure and new experiences, things her family frowns upon. Presented with the opportunity to use her puzzle-solving talent on a secret mission for the Foreign Office, Jess eagerly accepts. Even when it means posing as the wife of a scorchingly attractive Scotsman who she must also covertly investigate as a possible double agent.

Lord Dougal MacNair, the new Viscount Fallin, has always completed his assignments for the Foreign Office alone. Now he’s saddled with an overly enthusiastic amateur partner. She possesses a remarkable intellect, but something about her isn’t quite right, and after two failed missions, Dougal is certain someone is working against him. Battling their secret suspicions, Dougal and Jess dive deep into their cover as a married couple, which arouses temptations they find irresistible. Danger is all around them, but it’s their hearts that may be the most imperiled.

EXCERPT:

“Have you ever given up on a cryptogram?”

“No.”

“And I imagine some of them weren’t easy.”

She exhaled. “No, they were not.”

“I assumed as much. I know you, Jess, and you’re tenacious.”

“We haven’t even known each other a fortnight,” she scoffed. “Not officially anyway.”

“What does that mean, ‘officially’?”

She took a generous drink of brandy. “We have met before. Four years ago. I remember it distinctly.”

“Four years ago?” Damn, now he felt terrible. “How can you be sure?”

She gave him a haughty look of certainty that quite frankly pricked his desire. “Because I am. You asked me to dance at the Edgemont Ball.”

He’d danced with her. Four years ago. And never again. Worse, he didn’t remember it. He was an absolute cad. “I should have remembered you. I can’t imagine why I didn’t.” he said softly.

Sentiment, which he preferred to indulge in small, manageable doses, threatened to send him to her chair, to take her hand and beg her forgiveness. A husband would do that. A lover. He was neither and since they were alone, there was no reason to continue the pretense. Only, he was fairly certain he was no longer pretending.

INTERVIEW 7

Who is the last person you hugged?

My son. He delivered an amazing closing argument for a trial of Goldilocks in Forensics class in high school. He was so happy and proud, and I couldn’t be prouder.

What are you reading now?

In a Different Key, a book about the history of autism. My daughter is autistic. She’s an artist in her junior year of college currently working on a graphic design project of three book covers! Sadly, they are not for me!

How do you come up with the titles to your books?

It varies. Sometimes they come to me, other times I have to work very hard to come up with something! When I wrote the Phoenix Club, I decided on single word titles that start with the letter I. This came from a brainstorming session with someone, but I don’t remember who! Most of the titles came very easily/were obvious. I just titled a new series I’ll be writing later this year and those titles also came very quickly – we (I’m writing the series with my bestie) decided on a naming convention for branding and they just sort of fell into place.

Share your dream cast for your book.

I am SO bad at this! I don’t ever picture real people when I write, so the casting question always throws me off. For my upcoming release, I can totally picture Keira Knightley and Chiwetel Ejiofor who played a couple in the film Love Actually.

Virtual Book Tour: Renegade's Lady by Bobbi Smith

Renegade’s Lady

by Bobbi Smith

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance (Western)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Hi! I had soooo much fun researching Renegade’s Lady. The heroine is a dime novel writer who goes West to research her new book. If you’re not familiar with dime novels, they were the original paperback books from the 1800s. I even managed to find a few at antique stores. One I bought is titled The Golden Belt, and it was published by Beadle and Company in 1866. What a treasure! I can’t believe it’s held up this long. So I hope you enjoy Sheri and Brand, the half-breed scout, in Renegade’s Lady!

Looking For a Hero

Sheridan St. John was a successful writer who had no need for a man in her life…as long as she had one between the pages of her dime novels. But when her editor told her sales were off, Sheri set out for the Wild West in search of the perfect hero for her new book.

Brand, The Half-Breed Scout

The man Sheri found fulfilled her every requirement for a fantasy lover—half Apache, a tall, dark, and dangerous male—but he was completely wrong for a real-life mate. On the run from the law, Brand guarded his heart as the attraction between them destroyed her reservations, leaving Sheri with one burning need—to become the renegade’s lady.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Sheri sat watching Brand as he stood near the cave entrance. He was a tall, lean, broad-shouldered silhouette in the soft moonlight, and she shivered as she remembered the power of his touch. Strange feelings besieged her. For that one breathless moment in time when his lips had been on hers, she had been in ecstasy, and now… He had abandoned her without so much as a backward glance, leaving her unsure, confused…and a little angry.
“Do you want me to help you keep watch?” she finally asked, knowing the raiding party could be near.
“No. Stay there, where you’ll be safe,” Brand told her, knowing the last thing he wanted was to have her near him.
Brand stared out into the night, forcing himself to concentrate on keeping watch. He had to ignore the woman behind him. He knew now that he should never have kissed her. He wished there was some way to get her back to the fort tonight. The sooner he was away from her, the better.
Alone…He liked being alone. Then he had no one to worry about except himself.
He glanced back at her, and emotions he had long denied tore at him. They were under attack by renegades, and she was depending on him to keep her safe. He would not fail. He had to keep watch. He could allow himself no lapse. He’s made two mistakes that day already—missing the renegades’ tracks and kissing Sherri. He wasn’t about to make another.
BLURB:
The death of her husband has thrown Lady Maria Kersey’s future into doubt—and her heart into the arms of a man she cannot have. But Christmas with the Widows’ Club will bring choices—and surprises--that may change all her holidays to come . . .
Maria just gave birth to her first child, a beautiful daughter—but the event is shrouded in sorrow.  A month earlier, Maria’s husband, Lord Kersey, was killed in a duel under compromising circumstances. Worse, Maria’s failure to provide a male heir has stripped her of any hope of an inheritance. Scorned by the ton, one of her few allies is her late husband’s steward, Hugh Granger. Hugh is everything her husband was not—warm, charming—and penniless. . . .
Hugh has fallen desperately in love with Maria, but has little to offer but comfort. As their attraction becomes impossible to resist, Maria flees to London to spend Christmas with her dearest friends, a group of widows who lost their own husbands in the Battle of Waterloo. Little does she know the holidays will reveal a twist of fate she never expected—proving that the greatest Christmas gift is the magic of true love . . .
NOTE: The book is on sale for $0.99.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

“Would you and Lady John come to tea with me and my sister tomorrow afternoon at Wingate?”

“I would be delighted to meet Miss Granger. I shall ask my cousin, but I am certain she will wish to make the acquaintance as well.” Her eyes sparkled with true joy, making Hugh almost giddy with relief.

“Thank you, my lady.” She was so close, so temptingly close. Her face tilted up to him brought her mouth only inches from his lips. If he swayed slightly toward her—

She rose up and brushed her lips against his in a fleeting kiss that seemed to last far longer than the few seconds it surely took. Still, he savored the warmth of her mouth, the sweetness of her breath, the closeness of her face next to his. Not a sensual kiss, but one so comforting he could forget the worries for his family completely for those few blissful moments. Heaven in several different ways.

Then she was gone, slipped out the door with only the swish of her purple skirts lingering on the air.

Hugh gazed about the room, not entirely certain what had just happened had been real. And if it had been—and he hoped like the devil it had been—then he must figure out what Lady Kersey had meant by kissing him, and how they could go on from here.

FULL MOON DREAMING INTERVIEW

1.     You’re marooned on a small island with one person and one item of your choice—who is that person and what item do you have?

The person I would want to be marooned with on a small island would be Sting and the item would be his guitar.

2.  Which musical would you say best exemplifies your life – and which character in that musical

     are you?

     The musical that best exemplifies my life is The Music Man and I am Marion Paroo. I’m not a

     librarian (but a teacher), but my husband is a Music Man (a real musician) and I was

     languishing in my small hometown until I met and married him.

3.  When you start a new story, do you begin with a character, or a plot?

     I always start with a plot. I can’t begin to write until I have the entire story plotted out in detail

    (usually in a 10-12 page outline). And I can’t skip around. I start at the top of chapter one and

     write straight through until I type THE END.

4.  If they were to make the story of your life into a movie, who should play you?

     If they made a movie of the story of my life, I would like for Jennifer Lawrence to play the

     younger me and Emma Thompson to play the older me.

5.  Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?

     If we are talking horror villains in books, it would have to be Pennywise the Clown from

     Stephen King’s It (my favorite book by him too). Pennywise is so diabolical and evil and

     downright scary, he’s the perfect villain. But if it’s horror villains in movies, it has to be

     the plant, Audrey II, in Little Shop of Horrors (one of my all-time favorite movies) because the

     plant has sooo much personality you just have to love it.

6.  Do you have an historical crush and if so, who is it?

     I hate to say it, but I have always been fascinated by King Henry VIII of England. He was the

     perfect Renaissance man and was so influential in his life, both for good and for bad,

     unfortunately. I was first turned on to him through a BBC mini-series released in 1970, The Six

     Wives of Henry VIII. I find him fascinating, although I sympathize much more with his wives,

     especially Anne Boleyn. I recently saw the musical Six in London, about the six wives and

     loved it.

Seduction of a Duke

by J R Salisbury

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Historical Romance (Victorian)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

You never know when Cupid's arrow is going to strike…

Lady Cora Keats, the only daughter of the Duke of Dover. is not only beautiful, she’s confident, self-assured, and sometimes a wee bit outspoken. She knows one day she’ll have to marry and settle down – her father constantly reminds her. Cora has other plans - she doesn’t want to marry…at least not now. She’s grown into an independent woman with an occupation few women dare pursue. She cannot…no. she will not. give up a successful business for a man. Not even if he’s an obscenely handsome duke who shares her interests.

Sebastian Steele, Duke of Hightower. is sought after by all the eligible young women. Tall, muscular and stunningly good-looking, the former rake has quietly begun his search for a wife. Drawn by Lady Cora’s uniqueness and confidence he realizes through all their bickering there is something more lying beneath the surface.

Can these two opposites put aside their differences and work together for the greater good or will pride and stubbornness rule?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
"Move your arse! Move your bloody arse!"
Sebastian Steele, Duke of Hightower watched in fascination at the young woman standing at the rail yelling and making a fool of herself. Fascinated because he'd never seen a woman get so animated about a horserace. It was undignified and certainly unbecoming of a lady. Where was her husband?
Though women did attend horse races with their husbands, they never behaved like this. She appeared to be a peer, well dressed and mannered, except for this outburst. Could it be her husband’s horse she was carrying on about?
She continued watching the race, cheering them on. In the sun red hues sparkled off her mahogany hair. She wore dark green dress with charcoal piping along with a peplum jacket and skirt. The collar hugged her chin and was trimmed with black lace. The jacket closed with small black buttons on the front.
He turned his attention from the dark-haired woman to the race, which was winding down. The horses were headed into the homestretch, and his own entry, Apollo's Gold was proving once again to be a disappointment, holding at a good distance behind the winner. The stallion had shown great promise up until the last two races. Something was missing. He needed to send Apollo to someone who could salvage this horse's future before he ruined it.
"Better luck next time," Crispin Allgood, Earl of Yorkshire said, clasping him on the shoulder
 The Questions – please choose at least 5
1) You’re marooned on a small island with one person and one item of your choice—who is that person and what item do you have?
Prince Charles – he’s fascinating and the one item would be a knife, a very sharp knife.
2) Which musical would you say best exemplifies your life – and which character in that musical are you?
3) Take these three words and give me a 100 word or less scene using them: hammer, saucer, traffic lights
4) What is your idea of how to spend romantic time with your significant other?
5) When you start a new story, do you begin with a character, or a plot?
It usually starts with a character but is the starting point for the plot and backstory. In this new book it started with the plot, but the heroine was the driving force.
6) If they were to make the story of your life into a movie, who should play you?
Dame Judith Dench
7) Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?
Pennywise the creepy dancing horror clown from Stephen’s King’s. He’s just creepy. Makes me want to look in the closets or under the bed every time I watch that money.
8) Do you have an historical crush and if so, who is it?
Hmmm….historical crush – I’m assuming you mean real life person from the past – so it would have to be Mozart
9) Is there a story that you’d like to tell but you think the world isn’t ready to receive it?
