Super Trooper #70 (16.4)

Chan wrapped one hand around his lover’s seeping cock. No one had ever made him feel the way that Evan did. Loved and cherished. Respected. He’d never thought he would find anyone as wonderful as Evan who would want to become a part of his life. But here he was, and here they were, and Chan knew he couldn’t love Evan any more if he tried.

He pumped Evan with sure, firm strokes, Evan’s pleasure more than evident from the noises coming from him.  But this was not how the night was destined to end, and Chan knew it. Pulling Evan’s face down to his, he placed a searing kiss on his lips, at the same time wrapping his legs about Evan, encouraging him to take the next step. As they kissed, Evan entered him in one push, filling him completely. Chan moaned into Evan’s mouth.

He wound his fingers into Evan’s white blond hair and gripped tightly, keeping pace with Evan’s thrusts as he snapped his hips, driving into Chan with sure, swift strokes. Their tongues tangled  in a mock battle. Chan could taste the citrus mouth wash Evan favored, one that always reminded him of his lover.

Normally, Chan kept his eyes closed, but this time he wanted to see Evan’s expression as they made love. That was something he’d always been curious about but had never dared to share with Evan. Now he peeped from beneath his lashes before opening his eyes wider. Evan’s own eyes were closed and Chan thought he resembled an angel caught in prayer.

Evan pulled back to catch his breath, and they both gasped for air for a moment.

“You’re so tight,” Evan murmured against Chan’s ear. “So hot and tight. I just want to love you forever.”

“Oh yes, forever,” Chan replied, bombarded by a myriad of emotions that threatened to overwhelm him, all centered in this one man. “I want to be yours forever.”

Chan felt Evan begin to tighten, knew that he was close. “You can do it,” he encouraged him, feeling bolder than ever. “Fill me with you.”

Chan’s words must have shattered Evan’s self-control as he reached his peak and began to release inside of Chan in long hard waves. And when he was spent, he collapsed onto his side and pulled Chan close. Chan nestled against him, content not to move for now.

When Evan began to stir, Chan clung to him. “Not yet,” he whispered, and Evan stilled his movements.

They held onto one another in a contented silence.

“Did you have a good birthday, baby?” Evan asked. He stroked Chan’s cheek tenderly, his beautiful emerald eyes soft and hazy. No one had ever looked at him the way that Evan did, never treated him with such love.

“I had a wonderful birthday,” Chan said. “Thank you so much. Not just today, but for everything. For helping my siblings through the hardest time in their lives.” He didn’t think he could have done it without Evan. Now he felt safe in saying they were all going to be all right.

“You’re my family and I love you,” Evan said, the most beautiful words Chan had ever heard.

And to think it had all started with a speeding ticket...

The End

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #69 (16.2)

Good morning, Happy Hump Day and Happy St Patrick's Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Super Trooper #69 (16.3)

Chan began to thrust into Evan’s mouth, gently at first, almost hesitantly, but then with greater speed. Evan enjoyed the taste and feel of his lover’s uncut cock. This was not the first time he’d encouraged Chan to push his limits, and he could tell Chan was becoming more and more comfortable in doing what felt pleasurable to him.

He anchored Chan, holding firmly as he plunged inside Evan’s mouth, over and over. Evan’s own cock was swollen with desire. He  ached for the feel of his lover’s channel around him. He’d never met anyone like Chan before, and he wanted to show him just how special he was to him.

Moving one hand to his own leaking dick, he wet a couple of fingers before sliding that hand along Chan’s crease.

“Oh yes, oh yes,” Chan moaned, as if he already knew what Evan was up to.

Evan pushed one finger inside of Chan’s pucker, and then another. Chan’s muscles gripped tightly, his rising moans serving to indicate his growing pleasure. When Evan added a third finger, he felt Chan’s cock begin to spasm, his thrusts becoming  more driven as he came long and hard into Evan’s mouth. Evan swallowed everything he could before taking a breath.

“Feel good, baby?” he asked, gently stroking Chan’s ass. Chan was holding on to the head board, letting his own breathing even out.

“Very good,” he finally got out before Evan pulled him down on top of him and kissed him thoroughly.

Chan was practically purring as he rubbed against Evan.

“Ready for sleep?” Evan teased, even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer to that question.

Chan gave him one of his looks, the ones Evan was getting to know so well. This one clearly said Chan was not ready to roll over any time soon, an are you kidding look if ever he saw one.

Evan began to smile. “So what would you like to do instead? Something special for your birthday?”

“You know what I want to do,” Chan said, grinding meaningfully against Evan. “You know what I want, too. I want you, Mr. Super Trooper. And you know just how I want you to?”

Evan couldn’t resist playing dumb. “Super Trooper, am I? Tell me what it is you want and I’ll see if I can do it.”

Chan leaned down until his mouth was right by Evan’s ear, as if afraid someone could hear him, although that wasn’t likely. “I want you to fuck me. I want you to come inside of me. I want us to be as one.”

Evan could remember a time when Chan didn’t have the nerve to talk that way to him, or to express his own desires. They had come a long way in such a short time.

“You know I’d do anything for you,” Evan said then flipped their positions so that Chan was on bottom and he was on top. “Especially that.”

Chan’s mouth curved up in a sensuous smile that went straight to Evan’s heart… and his dick. “Do you want me to get out one of our toys?” They had recently begun experimenting with vibrators. Discreetly, of course, keeping locked away, far from curious eyes.

“Not tonight. All I want is you,” was Chan’s heartfelt reply.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #68 (16.2)

Good morning and Happy Hump Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Chan's birthday has been perfect, and he couldn't be happier. But just because night time has fallen, and the kids gone to bed, that doesn't mean the fun has to stop! See what's happening in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them. Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #68 (16.2)

Chan shivered at Evan’s words, even as Evan claimed his lips in a searing kiss. How had he ever lived without this man’s love, he didn’t know… and he hoped he never would again. He planned to dedicate the rest of his life to Evan, and to his siblings… his perfect family.

Evan lightly pressed his tongue against Chan’s lips. Chan gladly granted him admission. Their tongues tangled in a playful duel which took Chan’s breath away. He slid his hands along Evan’s back, feeling the strength beneath his fingers. Evan wasn’t built like a bodybuilder but Chan thought his muscular body was perfect just the way it was.

When Evan pulled back, Chan was momentarily bereft, until he realized where his lover was headed, as he kissed a trail down Chan’s body. Reaching up beside Chan, he grabbed one of their pillows. “Raise up,” he instructed, then placed it beneath Chan’s ass for better leverage.

Lightly pressing against Chan’s legs to spread them a little more, Evan stroked the sensitive skin of Chan’s perineum. Lowering his head, he licked it lightly, ringing the base of Chan’s cock with the fingers of one hand. He stroked his way up the shaft and pulled back the foreskin.

“Oh yes,” Chan gasped as Evan ran his thumb across the exposed head, which was already leaking pre-cum. Evan lapped at the liquid before taking Chan’s cock into his mouth in one fell swoop.

Chan wound his fingers into Evan’s short blond hair, anchoring himself as Evan sucked on him. So good, so very good. No man had ever made Chan feel the way that Evan did, and none of them had even actually tried. Evan was undoubtedly the best thing to ever happen to Chan.

As Evan sucked, he continued to pump Chan with a firm yet gentle motion. Chan loved the face Evan made when he sucked him off, his beautiful eyes closed in intense concentration, almost as if he was praying. His cheeks hollowed as he sucked, and when he hummed around Chan’s dick, the vibration only served to add fuel to the rapidly growing flames of Chan’s desire.

At this rate, Chan knew he wouldn’t last long. But did that matter? He also knew Evan had other things in store for him. Very pleasurable things.

Until suddenly Evan pulled away, leaving Chan rather confused. Didn’t Evan want him to come?

“Change of positions,” Evan said. “Stand up for a moment.”

Chan did as requested, while Evan positioned himself on the bed, his head on the pillows now. “Kneel over me,” he said. “And hold on to the headboard. I want you to fuck my mouth real good.”

Had anything ever sounded so sexy?

Chan wasted no time into assuming the requested position, kneeling with one leg on either side of Evan’s head, his cock at mouth level. Evan obligingly opened his mouth. At the same time, he reached around Chan and held Chan’s cheeks firmly in his grasp.

What more invitation did Chan need?

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #67 (16.1)

Good morning and Happy Hump Day ! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Chan's birthday has gone very well, and he is beyond happy. Now the night is over, the children are in bed, what else can Evan have in store for him? See what's happening in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them! Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #67 (16.1)

“Thank you so much,” Chan told Evan for the hundredth time as they were getting ready for bed.

Evan laid his watch and his wallet on the dresser, then turned on the soft music they played at night, before turning toward Chan. “No need to thank me. You deserved everything you received,” he said. “And more.”

Chan’s smile grew even broader at his words. “Today was so… perfect,” he said, unable to think of a better word to describe how he felt. The only thing that could have raised his spirits any higher was if his parents had been there in the flesh, rather than in the beautiful urn they’d received from the funeral home.

Evan kissed him softly, and for a moment nothing was said.

Chan still couldn’t believe Evan had learned to make the traditional dishes of his maa, and Laksha had helped him. Her cake was very delicious, and the drawings made by Kamal were very good. And he was touched more than he could say by the sight of Madhu clinging to Evan for a good portion of the night. If he’d had any worries about his siblings accepting his love, those had all disappeared after today. On top of that, the gifts he’d received were all wonderful. He couldn’t have asked for anything else.

Well, there was one thing he would like, but he felt suddenly shy about asking, for some reason.

“Something on your mind?” Evan asked. He’d just closed the door to their room and locked it before he rounded the bed and lay down on his side.

To his surprise, Evan wasn’t wearing the sleep shirt and pants they’d both taken to wearing, what with having children in the house. Maybe Chan wasn’t going to have to ask for what he wanted.

“You,” Chan replied. “Always you.” He had been in the act of pulling on his sleepwear but decided against that and slid naked into the bed as well.

“Any particular part of me?” Evan said suggestively as he drew Chan to him, close enough so that Chan could feel his growing desire, matched by his own for Evan.

Oh yes, this was the most perfect day indeed.

“Your beautiful cock,” Chan blurted out. He was surprised he had the nerve to say such a thing aloud, even if it was true. Of course, he loved all of Evan’s body, every beautiful bit of it. But his cock was the stuff of wet dreams. So thick and so hard, and so perfectly fitted to Chan’s body, as though made just for him.

“I was hoping you’d say that,” Evan murmured against Chan’s neck as he nuzzled him, slowly rubbing against Chan as if he had all the time in the world with which to pleasure him.

Chan and moaned in happiness as he allowed Evan to take the lead, as he generally did.

“Would you like me to do anything special?” Evan asked, his tongue drawing a path along Chan’s jaw to his ear where he lightly nipped at the lobe, the way Chan liked.

“Everything you do is special,” Chan insisted. “Having you inside of me is what I love best.”

“I’m more than happy to oblige,” Evan replied. “But before I do that, there is something else I have to do.” He glanced up at Chan, his gorgeous green eyes glittering with lust.

“What’s that?” Chan was almost afraid to ask. Surely Evan didn’t have to leave him, not tonight? But his lover’s next words only served to turn him on all the more.

“I’m going to give you the best blow job I can.”

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #66 (15.3)

Good morning, Happy Hump Day and Happy St Patrick's Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Chan thinks everyone has forgotten his birthday and gone to work feeling rather sorry for himself. But that is hardly the case, as he receives an unexpected message to come home. See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them. Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #66 (15.3)

Everything had gone perfectly today, just as Evan hoped it would. It had been difficult to send Chan off to work looking like a wounded puppy because no one had acknowledged his birthday. But that would have given everything away, and he was sure his lover forgave him for that now.

Laksha had begun to bake as soon as Chan was out of sight. The result was the most beautiful carrot cake Evan had ever seen, completely with traditional fondant decorations. She seemed pleased with the praised he heaped on her, and helped him to prep for the food he was going to make for Chan’s birthday lunch. He couldn’t even pronounce the name of the main dish when he started, but with Laksha’s help, and a great deal of repetition, he got it. Murgh Makhani, otherwise known as Butter Chicken. At Laksha’s suggestion, he made a black lentil dish to go with it, naan bread, and a green salad.

Kamal offered to watch Madhu as well as decorate the dining room. He’d been drawing pictures ever since Evan confided the secret of Chan’s birthday to him—pictures of things he loved that he knew his brother would appreciate—and placed them about the dining room, along with balloons that he blew up (with a little help from Evan and Laksha).

Evan had never had a birthday party as a child, and didn’t have the first idea what they should look like. But Laksha assured him this was exactly the way their parents had celebrated the occasion of each child’s birth.

“Then this is how we’ll celebrate birthdays from now on,” Evan declared, winning him Laksha’s approval, along with a big hug.

Denise had played her part perfectly. Of course, she was in on their scheme from the beginning, and was more than happy to help. After taking Madhu to the park, she’d returned her and then gone home, calling Chan at the pre-arranged time. After hanging up with him, she’d called Evan and told him Chan was on his way and giggled when she told him that Chan sounded grumpy.

But that all changed when Chan walked in the door.

“You get to sit here,” Kamal commanded in an imperious tone as he pointed toward the couch.

“Yes, your royal highness,” Chan said with a grin. He ruffled his brother’s hair and then took the chosen seat. Madhu climbed up on one side of him, along with her precious wolf, and Kamal claimed the other side. Laksha gracefully settled into the arm chair, while Evan stood and beamed at them all.

Laksha and Kamal had each made birthday cards, which they presented to Chan. Evan, not having the same artistic bent, had purchased one and asked Chan to open it later. Not that he’d said anything the children couldn’t hear, but he considered the sentiments too personal to share, and nothing of interest to anyone other than Chan.

Chan loved all of his gifts and exclaimed over each and everyone. Evan noticed him wiping at his eyes more than once.

“Are you all right?” Evan asked, concerned.

“Yes. Very all right, and very happy.”

As they celebrated Evan scurried to and from the kitchen to check on the food, until Laksha gave him the official okay that everything looked perfect. She helped him to placed the finished dishes on the table, beside her beautiful cake and started to announce the meal was ready, but Kamal was ahead of her.

“Time to eat!” he announced in a loud voice. “And I’m starved!”

Everyone laughed as he made a beeline toward the table. Laksha shook her head as she followed in a more sedate manner. Chan bent down to pick up Madhu and carry her in, but the little girl pulled away from him and positioned herself in front of Evan instead. She reached up toward him, saying, “Evan!”

Everyone turned toward her in surprise. She had never once spoken his name, most of the time barely acknowledged his presence. And now she was asking for him.

Evan felt as though he might cry of happiness himself as he picked up the little girl and hugged her tight before they all entered the dining room.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #65 (15.2)

Good morning and Happy Hump Day ! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Today is Chan's birthday, the first since the death of his parents, but no one seems to have remembered. Can this day get any worse? See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper! Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them. Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #65 (15.2)

Chan’s unhappiness over the day’s events—or rather the lack thereof—grew even greater when he arrived at work to find it was just another ordinary day on the job. Not one happy birthday in the bunch, just business as usual. He tried hard not to be grumpy or morose, but he found that difficult to do when everyone else was just so full of smiles and sunshine.

He hadn’t brought a lunch, thinking someone would treat him for his birthday, as was the usual custom among his fellow employees. But when an offer wasn’t forthcoming, he finally decided what the heck, he’d just do something for himself. Why not? Even if no one else realized what day it was, he did.

But those plans never came to fruition either. As he was debating on where he wanted to eat, he received a phone call from Denise. She had an emergency and had to leave and he needed to come home to take care of Madhu.

“Did you call Evan?” Chan half-heartedly suggested, although he had a pretty good idea that wouldn’t work either, which she confirmed.

“I did. He must be out on a call,” she replied. “I’m so sorry.” Funny, he didn’t think she sounded sorry. That was probably just his bad mood thinking. He needed to not take this so personally.

“It’s all right, I’ll be right there.” Chan hung up and heaved a giant sigh. What next? Well, his manager could tell him he couldn’t leave work just now. Then what would he do?

But surprisingly she was more than happy to let him go. He could swear she was even working hard at keeping from grinning, but he was too irritated to analyze the reason for that, just grateful she wasn’t angry that he was leaving.

He gathered his things from his office and turned out the light, bidding the others good-bye as he passed on his way to the door. As he walked out the door, he could have sworn he heard giggling, but decided that was just his imagination. Oh well, Madhu would be happy to see him, anyway. He hoped nothing the situation with Denise wasn’t too dire. She didn’t sound stressed or anything, just insistent.

Maybe he could take his sister out for lunch? That thought cheered him a little until he reached the house and saw Evan’s cruiser in the driveway. What the hell? Had he left work for nothing? If Denise had reached Evan after all, why didn’t she call Chan and let him know?

Now he was beyond irritated. And majorly feeling sorry for himself.

He slammed his car door shut and stood for a moment, willing himself to calm down. Maybe he could just check on his sister, ascertain that  all was well in hand, and return to work to finish out the day. No harm done, right?

He took a deep breath, told himself everything would be fine, and strode briskly toward the door. Of course it was unlocked, so he let himself in and glanced around. No one in sight, but something smelled very good. Maybe Denise had been cooking.

“Evan?” he called out. “Madhu?”

And that was the moment when Kamal jumped out from the kitchen and burst into the living room, followed more sedately by Laksha, with Evan bringing up the rear, Madhu in his arms.

“Happy birthday!” they all cried out. Well, except for Madhu. But even she was smiling.

Kamal screamed, “Are you surprised? Did we surprise you, Chan?”

Chan felt like bursting into tears, he was so happy. How could he ever think the people he loved would forget him, even for a moment? “You surprised me very  much,” he replied. “Good job, bro.” Kamal held out a fist expectantly and they fistbumped.

Laksha hugged him and kissed his cheek. She seemed particularly pleased with herself, he noticed. “Happy birthday, Chan. I made you a cake.”

To say he was touched would be an understatement.

“Happy birthday, love.” Evan greeted him with a kiss. Chan couldn’t help but notice the glint in his lover’s eyes.

“You deliberately misled me,” he accused Evan, even though he couldn’t stop grinning himself.

“I had to, otherwise it wouldn’t have been a surprise. I hope you’re hungry. I’ve been cooking since you left.”

“You have?” Chan was surprised.

Evan nodded toward Laksha, who beamed at them both. “She’s been teaching me to make your favorite dishes.”

This was all so amazing. Chan couldn’t help himself, his eyes brimming with tears even as his heart swelled.

“Is something wrong?” Evan asked, concerned.

Chan shook his head. “No,  no, on the contrary. Everything is perfect. Thank you so much.”

And suddenly the horribly gone-wrong day became the best day of his life.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #64 (15.1)

Good morning, Happy Hump Day and Happy St Patrick's Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Chan's birthday has arrived, and he is both excited and apprehensive. This is the first one since the death of his parents. He doesn't know what to expect from Evan and the kids. See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. And then visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them! Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #64 (15.1)

Chan wasn’t sure what to expect on this, his first birthday since the death of his parents. Normally his mother made a special meal and fussed over him to his heart’s content. Obviously that wasn’t going to happen. No amount of wishing would bring them back.  He wasn’t sure how much he wanted to celebrate. On the one hand, it was his birthday. On the other, he almost felt guilty celebrating the occasion without them.

When he woke that morning, he decided he would simply allow his family to present their well wishes and bask in their love and understand. Undoubtedly they had something planned for him. He just had no idea what that might, and looked forward to finding out.

He had half expected that Evan would take a day off from work for the occasion. The night before, as they lay in bed, when he’d suggested doing that himself, Evan had glanced up from the book in his lap and asked, “Why? Do you feel ill?”

A startled Chan stammered he felt fine and rolled over. And that was that.

Maybe they were waiting for morning to arrive first. Maybe Evan was just playing with him. He consoled himself with that thought before falling asleep.

His idea was quickly dispelled the next day when he woke to find Evan up and dressed. Laksha and Kamal had finished their breakfast, and Laksha had already fed and dressed Madhu. The children bade a hurried good-bye as they rushed out the door as if they were going to a fire. Chan frowned at their retreating backs. Really? Not even a single birthday wish? Didn’t he merit that much?

As they were leaving, they let Denise in.  “I thought I would take Madhu to the park, it’s so nice,” she explained at the sight of Chan still in his sleep clothes. “Sorry, didn’t mean to disturb you.”

“No problem,” Chan assured her.

As he watched, Evan finished his cup of coffee, rinsed it and set it into the dishwasher.

“Well, I’m outta here. I’ll see you later.” He kissed Chan on the cheek. “Your breakfast is on the table.” He flew out the door without another word, which only added to Chan’s growing perturbation.

Didn’t anyone care enough to remember his birthday?

Denise picked up Madhu and her wolf, and selected a few toys, which she threw into a bag. “See you later, Chan,” she said as she exited the house. Madhu waved at him over Denise’s shoulder. That was something, anyway.

Chan took a quick glance at the food on the table and decided he didn’t want to eat. He picked up the plate. Tempted to throw it away, his frugality overcame his anger, and he put it into the refrigerator. Someone would surely want it later. He’d get something at work. In fact, maybe they would bring in doughnuts or something, in honor of his birthday.

Assuming anyone knew it was his birthday.

Chan grumpily stalked into his bedroom and dressed. Catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror only caused him to frown more deeply.

Get over yourself. It’s just a birthday. You are a grown man.

If only it was that easy.

The sound of the front door opening drew Chan from his funk. Who the hell could that be? Maybe Evan came back because he remembered what today was? He hurried into the living to find Evan there. Chan’s heart beat faster at the sight of him.

“Sorry, I forgot…”

Yes, yes, yes….

“I have some dry cleaning that’s ready to pick up. Do you mind getting it on your way home?”

Chan nodded mutely.

“Love you,” Evan added with another kiss on the cheek. This time he really left. Chan watched his car pull up the street, out of sight.

Happy birthday to me.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #63 (14.6)

Good morning, Happy Hump Day and Happy St Patrick's Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Evan has stayed home with Kamal and Madhu because of the babysitter's illness. Chan tells himself he isn't worried, but is he? See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them. Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #63 (14.6)

Chan wasn’t worried about the situation at home. Well, maybe concerned, but not worried. And it wasn’t a situation. Things liked this happened all the time, surely, where one parent had to stay home with the children rather than go to work because of circumstances.

Not that he and Evan were their parents, but they were responsible for them. And Chan loved them more than anything. He was sure Evan did too. With time, his siblings would warm to Evan.

He hoped.

Chan glanced at the computer clock again. Almost time to go.

He’d called home during the course of the day. More than once. Not that he expected anything to be wrong. He just wanted to see how everyone was doing. Just because he braced himself to hear screaming in the background was a testament to his concern for everyone, not any doubt in his partner’s ability to run things smoothly without Chan being present.

And he was very pleasantly surprised by how peaceful everything actually seemed. He tried to talk to Kamal, but he was playing with his friends and couldn’t take the time to talk to his big brother. Madhu was sleeping when he called. Besides, she wasn’t much of a conversationalist yet.

So all was well. Still, Chan couldn’t wait to get home and see what was happening for himself.

Time to leave came at last, and tonight he didn’t have to stay late. The branch manager was there for that. So Chan finished what he needed to do, bid farewell to his co-workers with promises to see them the next day, and took his departure.

When Chan pulled onto the quiet residential street where they lived, he saw Kamal and several of his friends engaged in a game of kickball in the street. They immediately moved to the side of the road at the sight of him, well out of the way of his car as he parked in the driveway beside Evan’s cruiser. Chan knew his parents had allowed Kamal and his friends to play like that because it was a very safe neighborhood, and the boys were careful and vigilant regarding traffic, which there was little of. The residents were equally watchful of the younger residents, and no one had ever been hurt. Chan expected them to return to their game once he was out of their way. But, as he climbed from his car, they ran toward him instead, all speaking at once.

Oh dear, what now?

Chan cast a concerned glance at his brother, before trying to sort out the babble of young male voices. It took him a second to realize they were just excited, not upset or angry or anything the least worrisome.

“Have you been inside the police car?” “Are you going to be a trooper too someday?” “Does he let you run the siren?” “That car is sooo cool.”

Chan couldn’t help but smile. Apparently Kamal had been showing off Evan’s patrol car, and his friends were more than impressed, they were ecstatic. Score one for Evan.

“Yes, I have been inside the car,” Chan replied. He wasn’t sure which question to answer first, and that was the easiest one. His words were greeted with a multitude of oohs. “Many times.”

“That’s so cool,” was repeated by the boys. A quick glance at his brother showed Kamal fairly bursting with pride, just as happy as his friends. That had to be a good sign, right?

“Does Kamal really get to ride in the car too?”

“Yes, sometimes he does.” On rare occasions, they did use the cruiser, mostly for short trips.

Now Kamal was the center of the admiring glances of his friends. Good time to go inside and see the rest of his family. He tousled Kamal’s hair. “Come in soon and clean up for dinner,” he told them. “See you guys later.”

He walked through the door to find Laksha sitting on the couch, her nose in a book. Madhu sat beside her, also looking through a book. But to his surprise, Evan sat on her other side. He was pointing out letters and words and pronouncing them for Chan’s little sister. She never said a word, but her sharp eyes followed his movements with great interest.

Chan’s heart swelled at the sight. He was so happy to be here, with his family. For a moment, he stood there, silently drinking everything in.

Evan looked up and smiled. “Welcome home, love,” he said.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #61 (14.4)

Good morning, Happy Hump Day and Happy St Patrick's Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Things seem to be going more smoothly for the new family, to Chan's delight. He is unaware of what is being cooked up for his birthday. Evan and Laksha have everything in hand. Until one morning when the babysitter can't make it, and Chan has already left for work. See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Don't forget to visit the other Briefers and see what's up with them! Their links follow my tale! Enjoy!

Super Trooper #61 (14.4)

Only a few more days until Chan’s birthday. Evan was pleased at how well his plans were progressing. He took advantage of times when he worked nights and was home during the day to continue his cooking lessons with Laksha. He enjoyed her company, and had learned a lot about her in the time they spent together.  She was very intelligent, an avid reader. Someday she wanted to work in the Tucker Falls library and work with children, so they would enjoy reading too. No wonder Chan was so proud of her. Evan was too.

Together, they shopped for the ingredients for Chan’s dinner, and for the cake which Laksha planned to make. She wouldn’t even tell him what kind, just smiled at him and said he could be just as surprised as Chan. He laughed and didn’t argue.

With everything else covered, that left only the matter of a gift. What do get Chan? When he confided his concern to Laksha, she told him not to worry, she had him covered. A couple of days later, she told him that Chan was interested in a particular brand of headphones, and some music CDs. Perfect. He stopped by Tucker Falls’ only mall on the way home from work and bought everything, then stored it in Laksha’s room, where Chan would never find it.

Everything was certainly looking up, at least as far as Laksha was concerned. He still had Kamal and Madhu to contend with. Kamal had become less contentious, didn’t argue over everything Chan or Evan asked him to do. But he also tended to ignore Evan unless he was asked a direct question, or needed something and Chan wasn’t around. Then he grudgingly spoke to him.

As for Madhu, she seemed to avoid him, and on the whole was a very quiet child, which worried Evan. She must miss her parents terribly. He wished he knew what he could do to ease her pain.

Wednesday morning, Evan was surprised to find Laksha alone at the table, eating breakfast. Chan was at the stove, making pancakes. An apron covered his work clothes to keep from getting them dirty.

“He’s going to be late for school,” Evan said, worried.

“Not today. His school has a teacher work day,” Laksha said. “Lucky him.”

Chan turned from the stove, laughing. “But you like school.”

His sister shrugged. “I know. I like days off too.”

“I can’t argue with that. Madhu’s still asleep?” He sounded surprised.

Laksha nodded. “She had a rough night.” She pushed back her chair and rose, taking her dishes to the sink. Chan intercepted her and took them from her.

“I’ll get those,” he said. He rinsed them and set them into the dishwasher, then glanced at his watch. “I have to go in a few minutes early,” he said.

Evan knew what he was thinking. Denise wasn’t there yet and he wasn’t about to leave the children alone.

“I’ll stay,” Evan offered. “I’m not due yet. I’ll wait here for Denise.”

Chan seemed greatly relieved. “Thank you, that’s a huge help.”

Just then a pajama-clad Kamal appeared, yawning. “Mmm, what smells so good?”

“Pancakes,” Chan replied. “You’re just in time.” He set two big cakes on a plate and set them in front of Kamal. “Want me to cut those for you?” he offered.

“I’m not a baby.” Kamal sounded indignant.

“No, of course not. My bad.”  He turned to Evan. “Can you ask Denise to make sure Madhu eats when she gets up? There are extra here.”

“Of course, don’t worry about it,” Evan assured him. “Go on. I have this covered.”

As Chan removed the apron, Evan took it from him and embraced him. They kissed briefly before Chan stepped back, giving Evan an admiring once-over.

“Damn you look so good in your uniform,” he said. “And out.”

“I appreciate the compliment, and may I say you look very fine yourself.”

Chan was so pretty when he blushed. Evan reached down for a kiss and for a moment they stood together, joined at the lips. Until the clatter of a knife broke the mood.

“Oops!” Kamal said, diving for his fallen utensil.

“I have to go, see you tonight.” Another kiss and Chan grabbed his lunch from the refrigerator and headed toward the door.

Evan took the dirty silverware from Kamal and gave him a clean replacement. “Sure you don’t want some help with that?”

“I have it,” Kamal said. Evan shrugged and turned back to his own breakfast, but he was interrupted by a knock at the front door. He wondered if Chan had forgotten something? But he wouldn’t knock, so that didn’t make sense.

He opened the door to find Mandy standing there. “Hi Evan, my mom asked me to come by and let you know she can’t come today and she’s sorry but she really doesn’t feel well and she doesn’t want to get the kids sick. She’s sooo sorry. I can stay with them, if you like.”

Evan was tempted, but seeing the backpack Mandy was carrying, and the way she was dressed, he realized she was on her way to school. He couldn’t very well ask her to skip class just to babysit. What sort of example would that set?

“No, no, that’s fine. Tell your mom to get better soon.”

“I will. See you later.”

Once the teen had gone, Evan closed the door and leaned against it. Okay, what was he going to do now? He knew if he called Chan, his lover would come home immediately. But they were in this together, this was his problem too.

Looked like he was going to stay home and play Mr. Mom today. He just hoped Kamal and Madhu wouldn’t mind.

Wednesday Briefs: Super Trooper #59 (14.2)

Good morning and Happy Hump Day! If it's Wednesday, then it must be time for more flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! We're a group of authors who bring you our finest flash fiction every week, 500 to 1000 words, inspired by one of our prompts.

Evan finds a surprising ally in his plot to do something special for Chan's birthday. When Kamal calls Chan to complain that Laksha has no time for him because she is busy with Evan, Chan worries that something is wrong. See what's going on in this week's chapter of Super Trooper. Super Trooper #59 (14.2)

The savings and loan where Chan worked locked its doors promptly at noon on Saturday, since it was just a half day. But that didn’t mean any customers still inside were kicked out. Everyone who was already inside at twelve was taken care of before the employees closed up and left for the day.

Everything was running smoothly today.  Chan hoped the same could be said of his home. He’d called Evan on his break and talked to him briefly. But Evan had seemed a little… distracted. Chan had asked was anything wrong and had been assured that nothing was. Still, he couldn’t help but worry just a little.

His concern only increased when his cell phone rang just as he was walking out the door.

What has happened now?

To his surprise, the caller was Kamal. Chan steeled himself for the worst but hoped for the best. “Hello?”

“When are you coming home, Chan?” Kamal hadn’t even bothered with a salutation. Not surprising.

“I’m getting to leave work now. Is something wrong?” Chan held the phone away from his ear as he bid one of the tellers a good day, then returned to his phone.

“I’m booooooored,” Kamal complained. “I want you to come home and play with me.”

Ah, so nothing earth-shattering or critical. Chan breathed a small sigh of relief.

“I thought you were playing with your friend Gene today?” Chan asked. He juggled the phone as he locked the door behind him, the alarm already set, then crossed the parking lot to where his car sat beneath one of the few shade trees around.

“I was, but he had to go visit his grandma.”

“I’m sorry to hear that,” Chan automatically commiserated. He barely remembered his grandparents. They had died when he was little, long before his mother’s remarriage and before she had his siblings. He wondered if Kamal missed not having a more extensive family. Not that there was anything he could do about it, other than be the best brother he knew how to be.

“Yeah, me too,” Kamal replied. If he was disturbed at his lack of a grandmother, he hid the fact rather well.

“Maybe you can play a game with Laksha till I get home?” Chan suggested as he started the car, glanced automatically behind him, and backed out of his spot.

“No, she’s too busy for me.” Kamal sounded aggrieved. “She told me to go outside and play if I was going to keep whining.”

“Is she playing with Madhu?” Chan wondered if he expected too much from his sister. She was still a child herself, after all.

“No. Her and Evan—”

She and Evan,” Chan automatically corrected him.

She and Evan are doing something, and she won’t tell me what.” Chan could practically see the pout on his little brother’s face. Despite himself, he had to smile, even as he wondered what Laksha could be up to with Evan. Should he be more concerned or relieved? Hopefully it was nothing serious. What that something serious might be, he couldn’t say.

“I’ll be home in just a few minutes. We can do something then, okay?”

“Yay!” Kamal’s mood instantly brightened. “We can have fun without them!”

“Kamal…” Chan thought carefully how to phrase his next question. “Laksha and Evan… they’re not yelling at each other, are they?” Not that either one of them actually yelled. The only yelling he’d ever heard from Evan was when he was in State Trooper mode. Not yelling exactly, but definitely a get-your-attention voice.

“Yelling? Why would they be yelling? I’ll meet you out front!” Kamal ended the call before Chan could get in another word. Well, he supposed that was his answer. He’d have to wait to find out what was going on.

How bad could it be?
