Georgie
by Cherrie Mack

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Erotic Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Georgie Randall runs from town to town to escape her past. When she settles in Amityville, Long Island, she vows to be happy alone. But when the boss’ handsome son throws her kinky switch on, there’s no turning it back off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Georgie arrived at LaVue restaurant at precisely seven o’clock. The night air was cool as she stepped from her vehicle, the wind whipping her hair around her face. Pulling the stray hairs off her overly glossed lips, she smiled at the valet, who stared at her breasts in return. Georgie was an ample 36C, and her black cocktail dress showed off her curvaceous figure. She pulled her sweater closer together, covering her cleavage. She didn’t want to be mistaken for that kind of girl.
Stepping into the lobby of LaVue, the memory of her freshman year at college assaulted her mind as it often did. She promised herself, since meeting Adam, she would not think about that time in her life. Three years ago might as well be thirty. Besides, Georgie Randall was no longer the same girl and had gone to great lengths to start over.
With a bounce in her step, she sashayed into the lounge area and immediately noticed the long, sleek bar. The patrons were dressed in business attire deeming LaVue, in her opinion, a white collar establishment. It was easy to spot Adam at the bar. His gleaming smile and contagious laughter filled the smoke-free area where he lounged with his arm up on the bar top. When his eyes found hers, he cocked his head to the side and pushed himself off the bar. Lazily, he strode toward her, stopping to gently kiss her lips. After lingering for a few seconds, he broke their kiss, cupping her cheeks in his hands.
“Hi, babe. I want you to meet Joseph Calvert. He’s trying to convince me to join his firm in Atlanta.”
“What happened to the associate from Bratman?” she whispered.
“Come and gone. I’ve been here for nearly two hours already.”
“You said seven, did you not?”
His thumbs caressed her cheeks.  “I did, but I didn’t want to rush you. This guy is important because it could mean a change of cities for me, and I thought you should be included in the decision. Come.” He guided her to the bar where Mr. Calvert waited.
Adam wasted no time introducing her as his soon-to-be fiancée. Stifling her need to jump up and down, she relaxed and basked in her newfound joy. Not because Adam was perfect for her, but because he was the perfect catch.
BLURB:
Ally
The first time I saw Gabe in my sensual cupcake bakery, I had no idea who he was. All I knew was chiseled perfection like him could never really want a girl like me. That didn't stop me from craving and lusting after everything I could never have. Success.
Gabe.
And I was trapped in a twisted frenemy relationship with my douche bag ex fiancee. I never would have dreamed who Gabe really was, what he wanted and why he wanted it.
Gabe
My f*cked up family taught me a lot. Take rather than give. Anything. Everything.
Ally made me feel clean. Whole. I'd do anything to have her and even more to keep her. In spite of my past but more importantly ... because of it.
I took her tenuous control and worshiped her killer curves. I never suspected she'd steal my heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

Blackness and strange noises rang through the gloom. What was this? I floated through it, as though I didn’t have a body, couldn’t feel any sensations. I was pretty sure I’d died, but heaven was black and smoky. Or had I gone to hell?

Then, there were voices, strange tones which skipped and repeated.

“Miss?” A gravelly voice, deep and comforting pierced the despotic darkness. “Can you hear me?”

Strong arms enveloped me, lifting me from the floor. I cracked an eyelid and slammed it shut again immediately. The smoke remained thick and the burning was so bad I couldn’t see through the moisture pooling in my eyes, the flood of tears protecting them. The crackle of fire returned in a rush and my body turned rigid in response.

“It’s okay. I’ve got you,” he murmured, and folded me closer to his hard chest. Safe. I felt safe in his arms. He took measured steps. “Is there anyone else in here? Anyone who needs help.”

I shook my head as a bout of coughing took over any ability to speak. Shouts rang out, men rushed by, disturbing the smoke, creating a whirlwind of warm air which brushed the sweaty strands of hair clinging to my forehead. It felt like a film of smoke and perspiration had encased my entire body.

“Codsworth,” I choked.

“What?” he asked. He had to be a fireman. Fresh air now. Or, was it him? He had the most amazing smell. I couldn’t open my eyes, could hardly breathe, but the scent of some woodsy cologne — Gucci? — permeated my nostrils through the haze of soot that lingered there.

“Codsworth,” I repeated. “My cat. He’s upstairs.” I clutched his arm with all my remaining strength. “Please …”

“Don’t worry,” he replied. “I’ll get him for you.” He quickened his pace and I clung to him with arms like noodles, resting my head against the fire retardant suit. He was as hard as a rock and for some reason, I felt like everything would be okay as he took charge.

The air grew clearer; there was a rush of wind and sound. Sirens blared, people chattered.

“Oh my God, can you believe it,” a woman said nearby.

“It doesn’t look too bad.” That was a man’s voice. Spectators probably, but my eyes were too scratchy to open yet and I didn’t even want to try.

“Here, take her,” the firefighter carrying me said, his deep voice raspier with the smoke. Then he placed me on a bed, a stretcher. Fingers brushed my ear, and the heat of his breath penetrated. “I’ll come back after I’ve found Codsworth. You’re safe now,” he promised, all calm confidence.

My skin erupted in tingles as gooseflesh spread across my skin. I forced my eyes open, staring through the blur of tears, but he was already gone.

“Who—?”

“You’re fine now, just relax.” A woman in a paramedic outfit appeared beside me and placed an oxygen mask on my face.

I frowned at her, my eyes had cleared pretty fast, though my chest still felt croaky. My limbs were floppy too. None of it mattered compared to losing the bakery. Or Codsworth.

I tried to pull the mask off, but she stopped me.

“No, you rest now. There’ll be enough time for talking later.” The medic lifted a flashlight and checked one eye then the other. “Looks okay there.”

I let her carry on with her protocol, but I felt stronger by the minute. I’d inhaled a bit of smoke. I’d not been burned to a crisp. The blessed oxygen flooded my lungs, clearing my mind and body. But still, I was exhausted. To the bone.

The Sound of Circumstance
by Susan Ann Wall

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  Contemporary  Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Stacie Nightingale doesn’t what the 2.5 million dollars of blood money she’s been awarded as a result of the lawsuit she filed. She also doesn’t want the memories that are flooding her mind, causing her to remember the betrayal that led to her friend’s death and left Stacie with a traumatic brain injury. Neither of those circumstances matter though once her boyfriend Owen Landry proposes to her. She doesn’t want his proposal because of the circumstances that drove him to it. The mysterious woman he seems to be keeping company only fuels her insecurity and doubt. Stacie loves Owen, but with her past continuing to haunt her, she questions if their love is strong enough to survive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Finally, Stacie met his gaze, a fire in her eyes. Her tender caress left his face, her hands tangling in his hair as she pulled him to her mouth. Her kiss was aggressive, giving more than taking, as though she was trying to prove something. Before Owen could register what that something was, she backed him into the living room until the backs of his legs hit the chair. Stacie’s initial push caused him to drop into the chair and without missing a beat, she straddled his lap and ground her body against him. The friction inspired his cock to wake up, but Owen knew what this was. It wasn't the first time Stacie had tried to use sex to avoid talking about something unpleasant.
He stopped kissing her even though her lips kept moving against his. All the laws of attraction were at work and it was nearly impossible to reverse the momentum, but Owen had never believed sex was a problem solver. As much as he wanted to make Stacie feel better, his instincts told him this wasn't the way.
“Please don't stop,” she pleaded.
“Stacie-”
“Owen, please. I need you. Right now, I need you.”
The desperation in her voice cracked his heart. He needed her too, if for no other reason than to remind her how much he loved her, how much she meant to him. Owen’s possessive side also pushed him to stake his claim, but now was not the time for either of them to feed their own insecurities. “Then let me hold you.”
“No. Make love to me,” she whispered, her voice a seductive caress in his ear.
“Baby, that's not what you're after.”
Can Samuel convince her otherwise, or will she walk out of his life forever?
General Release Date: 17th November 2015
Excerpt:
“Oh, I think of you all the time, Felicity. When I’m meant to be concentrating on the figures, one…” She felt an explosion of heat just above her belly button a second after he paused, and she gasped and pulled her stomach in.
“Two.” Another drop landed a little higher, between her ribs, and she felt the two hot impact spots melting together into a river of warmth.
“Well, you get the idea.”
She heard the mirth in his voice. He was enjoying watching her squirm. Another drop of wax splashed between her breasts. The impact burned, and she writhed against her bonds. It wasn’t nice, it wasn’t pleasant, but the warmth and the condensing pull of the cooling wax was strangely sensual. She wanted more as much as she wanted it to stop.
“I think of you over breakfast, whenever I see a pretty item of jewelery, when I look out of my office window, when I touch my desk. I see you there, stretched out and eager for your spanking. I think about you when I pick up my briefcase, when I loosen my tie. All the time, Felicity. You’re always on my mind.”
She heard a rasp, sensed movement beside her. Had he put the candle down?
“I get overwhelmed by thoughts of you all the time.”
Another dribble landed at the top of her left breast and the drop turned into a stream that burned a trail down to just before her nipple. She clenched her teeth, expecting the burning to explode on her sensitive nub, but it didn’t. She relaxed.
“Another confession, Felicity. When I think of you, I get turned on.”
You can Pre-order Something Brave from Totally Bound now, Early download will be available on the 20th October exclusively at my publisher’s site and general release is the 17th November.
Night Pleasures (Dark Hunter #1) Review
Night Pleasures (Dark Hunter #1)
Author: Sherillyn Kenyon
Publisher: St. Martin’s Paperbacks
American release date: September 2002
Format/Genre/Length: Paperback/fantasy/romance/323 pages
Overall Personal Rating: ★★★★★
Amanda Devereaux is nothing like the rest of her crazy family. She’s an accountant, and a very ordinary person, even to her choice of boyfriends. One of eight sisters, each one is farther out than the next, including her twin, Tabitha, who spends her nights hunting vampires and dressing like a lunatic Goth. But nothing out of the ordinary ever happens to Amanda, which is how she likes it…
… until she wakes up to find herself handcuffed to a devastatingly handsome man. And she’s suddenly forced to redefine normal.
Kyrian of Thrace is a Dark Hunter, one of those whose wish for vengeance was answered by the goddess Artemis in death, and who now serve her at the cost of their immortal souls. Kyrian was once a proud prince whose passion for a woman was his undoing. Betrayed by her, he lives a solitary existence, and knows he will never trust a woman ever again in his lifetime. The trouble is, he’s going to live for eternity.
And don’t ever make the mistake of calling him a vampire.
Kyrian is instantly attracted to Amanda, despite the circumstances of their meeting. But he knows there can be nothing between them, knows no woman can truly love him. And yet the more he comes to know her, the more he desires her, heart and soul.
Amanda has been burned before, but something about the man she knows as Hunter draws her in, despite her family’s warnings.
The problem is there’s a big bad Daimon after Kyrian, and he seems to be exhibiting powers no Daimon should have. Will he destroy whatever chance of happiness Amanda and Kyrian might have?
I thought when I read Fantasy Lover that no man could be as hot as Julian Alexander. I was wrong. Kyrian of Thrace is just that. Technically the first book of the Dark Hunter series (I tend to count Fantasy Lover as the first, but that’s a minor point), Night Pleasures is even hotter than Fantasy Lover because Amanda and Kyrian don’t have to contend with that whole better not have sex thing. Their sex scenes are very hot and steamy and passionate.
In this book, we learn about the Dark Hunters, how they came to be, what they’re about, what kinds there are, as well as the Daimons and the Appollites. It’s all great background for the series that is to come. Also, we meet the first Dark Hunter, Acheron Parthenopaeus, who is six foot eight and changes his hair color constantly. But Ash has secrets of his own, secrets that he keeps in order to keep his Dark Hunters safe. And if they should ever desire to regain their mortal souls, well, he’s the man to help with that.
Sherrilyn Kenyon writes very well, I love her descriptions of her characters which reach beyond the merely physical to the emotional. You will love these people, and feel for them. Even the villains are not one dimensional and have their own stories to tell.
I highly recommend this book if you like the Black Dagger Brotherhood or Anita Blake. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Captive Heart Review
Captive Heart
Author: Tali Spencer
Publisher: Resplendence Press
American release date: January 31, 2013
Format/Genre/Length: Novel/ Fantasy/Romance/226 pages
Overall Personal Rating: ★★★★★
 When Prince Lorant kidnaps his potential bride, Adora of Uttor, rather than going through the proscribed courting ritual, all hell breaks loose. Her brother, Emperor Gaspar Leonnte, isn’t about to stand for that, and he declares war on Sebboy.
Princess Julissa of Sebboy has led a sheltered life, among her many siblings and her parents. She knows that someday she’ll be married off for the good of the country. But things at home are not what they seem, including the way Lorant abominally treats his captive bride and no one stands up for her, and the unwarranted harsh treatment meted out to her brother Petraeus.
The imminent arrival of Uttoran forces sends the royal family scattering in different directions. Julissa is sent off with her timid cousin Aurelia, who is as gentle as they come but has been treated badly by men in her life and fears them. Unfortunately, the two young women find themselves deserted and captured. Through misleading circumstances, Julissa finds herself in Emperor Gaspar’s bed—and despite herself, she finds herself drawn to him. He doesn’t seem quite the beast he’s been painted to be. Can she reconcile her growing feelings with the duty she owes to her family? And can ill-chosen words, spoken in anger, tear them apart before they’re barely begun?
This book drew me in from the beginning. Julissa is a great heroine—she’s lovely, brave, and open-minded. And I loved that she isn’t your typical thin as a rail heroine. She has curves, and she is beautiful with them. Gaspar is everything one could ask for in a leading man—handsome, sexy, brave, intelligent, just, and hot-blooded. I loved every scene between these two, whether involving sex or not. Their give and take crackles with the exploration of initial attraction, despite their perceived circumstances, and the sex is hotter than hot.
Ms. Spencer has a way with words that conveys a great deal in a smooth, flowing style. She kept me guessing until the very end what would happen. There is sex, drama, suspense and more. This is a book I would happily read again, a definite keeper for my book shelf.
I can’t wait to read the second book in the Pride of Uttor series, which is m/m. A great start to what I anticipate will be a great series.
WEAK IN THE KNEES
By
Jo Kessel
BLURB:
“We got so busy living life that we forgot to live our dreams.”
Danni Lewis has been playing it safe for twenty-six years, but her sheltered existence is making her feel old ahead of time. When a sudden death plunges her into a spiral of grief, she throws caution to the wind and runs away to France in search of a new beginning.
The moment ski instructor Olivier du Pape enters her shattered world she falls hard, in more ways than one.
Their mutual desire is as powerful and seductive as the mountains around them. His dark gypsy looks and piercing blue eyes are irresistible.
Only she must resist, because he has a wife – and she’d made a pact to never get involved with a married man.
But how do you choose between keeping your word and being true to your soul?
Weak at the Knees is Jo’s debut novel in the new adult, contemporary romance genre – a story about love, loss and relationships, set between London and the heart of the French Alps.
EXCERPT:  .
Late afternoon Olivier and I are playing with interlocked fingers, sitting side by side on the balcony step, basking in the sun.
“I’ve been thinking about your birthday. Is there anything in particular that you’d like to do?” he asks.
I shrug.
“I don’t think so. Birthdays are no big deal and twenty-seven is hardly one of the big ones.”
It’s getting dangerously close to thirty and my life is still not exactly sorted. He rubs it in.
“There’s only three more years to go until you join my decade! Look, forget about it being your birthday. Let’s just say we’ve got an evening to spend together to do something a bit different. What would you like to do then?”
I’m not brave enough to ask what’s going to happen to us, to ask whether he’s going to have left his wife by then, or whether he’s expecting me to stay as his bit on the side. But perhaps I won’t need to. Because if I can summon enough courage to tell him exactly what I’d really like to do for my birthday, his answer will probably tell me all I need to know. There is something I’ve been desperate to do since we got together, but it’s not been possible seeing as our affair has to be kept secret. It doesn’t seem much to ask and for most couples it’s the simplest thing to do. I can’t bear to look at his face, to see his expression or to read his reaction, so I fixate on our fingers instead, making pretty puppet patterns.
“Actually, there is something I’d like to do,” I say. “I’d like to go out and eat at a restaurant, just you and me.”
He’s silent for the longest moment. His fingers stop moving and so, it feels, does my heart.
“Do you know how difficult that is for me Danni?”
His face is tight and serious when I look up and drown in his clear blue stare. I can barely breathe. It feels like the question mark hanging over our relationship and future has just jumped off the page, quadrupled in size and wrapped itself tight around my windpipe.
AUTHOR INFORMATION:
When Jo was ten years old she wrote a short story about losing a loved one. Her mother and big sister were so moved by the tale that it made them cry. Having reduced them to tears, she vowed that the next time she wrote a story it would make them smile instead. Happily she succeeded, and with this success grew an addiction for wanting to reach out and touch people with words. Jo lives in London with her husband and three children where she works as a TV and print journalist. She tells life stories and can often be found travelling the globe researching the next big holiday hotspots for readers to enjoy. Since becoming a mother, anything even remotely sad makes her cry. She’s a sucker for a good romance and tear-jerker movies are the worst. She’s that woman in the cinema, struggling to muffle audible wails as everyone else turns round to stare.
P.S Jo’s pretty certain one of her daughters has inherited this gene.
Living in poverty in a shabby London flat, she wonders if she’s made a terrible mistake—and there’s no turning back...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

Victoria sat impatiently, her fingers skittering across the shining top of her lovely round desk, once used by an ancestor who would no doubt be completely scandalized by the plan she had just proposed to Kit.

“Let me get this straight,” he frowned at her, his dark red brows furrowing like caterpillars. “You want me to help you to sneak into London for a week?”

She glared at the mocking tone of his voice. “You know, you’re usually quite handsome, but right now, you look more like an ogre from a Grimms’ fairy tale than a human, so you can stop glowering at me.”

His head came up and he looked at her, his eyebrows unfurrowing and shooting up on his forehead in such a comical way, she couldn’t help but giggle.

“You think I’m handsome?”

Victoria shrugged. “Yes. Sort of like a fox, with your ginger hair and sharp eyes. But don’t let it go to your head; Sebastian and Colin are far better looking than you. Now back to my plan.”

 He rolled his eyes at that and got back to the matter at hand. “The only way it would work would be to bring Elaine into it. There is no way your aunt would approve of your traveling to London on your own, and she certainly would never let you drive off alone with me.”

Victoria shook her head, frustrated by the fuss. “These people do know I’m of age, right? Why may Cousin Colin come and go as he pleases, yet Elaine and I are required to inform everyone where we are at every moment of every day? How is that fair?”

“Do you know you’re rather lovable when you act like a suffragette?” he teased.

She threw a fountain pen at him and missed. It exploded on the mantel. “Oh blast! Now see what you made me do.”

He laughed. “Made you do? No, leave it,” he said when she stood to clean it. “No one comes back here and we’ll call it art, much as that crazy art nouveau crowd calls their stuff art.”

“Oh!” She stamped her foot. He knew she loved art nouveau.

“Now don’t get your petticoats in a bundle, kitten, and let’s figure out how to get you to London so you can meet with…whom?”

“Harold L. Herbert, the managing editor for the Botanist’s Quarterly,” she said, sitting back down.

“Ah yes, so you can meet with Hairy Herbert. And what do you hope to gain from this meeting?”

For a moment, Victoria drew a blank. “Well, he said he wanted to meet with me. He finds my writing thought-provoking. He not only paid me for an article, but is also interested in more of my work. So, more assignments, I suppose.” She tilted her nose up in the air, waiting for him to make fun of her.

To her surprise he didn’t. “So you’ve never met Hairy Herbert. Have you spoken to him on the telephone?” He took the seat across from the desk and crossed his long legs. His eyes regarded her gravely.

Victoria shifted uneasily. “No.”

“So he doesn’t know that the author of the scientific article he paid ten pounds for is, in fact, an eighteen-year-old girl?”

Victoria opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
