Virtual Book Tour: Trainwreck

The Questions
1)      You’re marooned on a small island with one person and one item of your choice—who is that person and what item do you have? My husband, Scott and a sat phone with a full battery.
2)      Which musical would you say best exemplifies your life – and which character in that musical are you? Rocky Horror Picture Show. Oh, I’m Frankie.
3)      Take these three words and give me a 100 word or less scene using them:  galaxy, jet, cream
“Baby, I got you a present.”
“Where’d you go?”
“Galaxy Sex Portal, where all your orgasms are out of this world!”
“Where?”
“Never mind, just open it!”
“Jet powered dildo? Do you really think that’s safe?”
“No, it has CO2 cream that comes out of it after it deposits one of those gelatin alien eggs.”
“You want to deposit an alien egg into my ass and top it off with cream?”
“You’re the one who wanted me to eat out your ass.”
4)       You’ve just been let loose in the world of fiction, with permission to do anyone you want. Who do you fuck first and why? Micah Dalton. Sorry, he’s not a MM star. He’s David Stone’s rogue CIA cleaner in The Echelon Vendetta. I’d love to fuck his ass. Damn.
5)      What is your idea of how to spend romantic time with your significant other? Usually involves whips, canes, and ropes.
6)      When you start a new story, do you begin with a character, or a plot? Sometimes I come up with a scenario and develop a character who would have conflict in that situation. Other times, a character pops into my head, but rarely. Mostly, my stories are character driven after the initial premise has been nailed down.
7)      If they were to make the story of your life into a movie, who should play you? Penny from The Big Bang Theory, because she’s hot and I’d like to see her in pink dreads. Or Vince Neil circa 1990…he always looked good in lingerie.
8)      Who’s your favorite horror villain and why? Fave horror villain? This is so hard! Love me some Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes. Tim Curry’s Darkness from Legend. David Bowie’s Goblin King in Labyrinth. Frank Langella as Dracula followed by Gary Oldman’s Dracula. Tim Curry again as Frank in Rocky Horror…see, so hard!
9)      Do you have an historical crush and if so, who is it? Vlad Dracula. I’m crushing on his crazy ass!
10)   Is there a story that you’d like to tell but you think the world isn’t ready to receive it? Trainwreck is that story. It has a killer and the reader gets to be in his head. It has infidelity and an incredibly abused hero that embarks on a path of redemption. He questions his sexuality and his morality. He confronts his darkness and learns to understand himself in order to be okay. There are themes of child sexual abuse survivorship, sadomasochism, alternative relationships and sexuality. Deaths and putting themselves back together after the loss. It’s about unconventional love and the wounded healing. Once all five books have been released, we’ll see how folks will like Vincent Sweetwater. We’ll know in June.

Blurb:

Detective Sergeant Vincent Sweetwater hates dead bodies. That’s why he’s an undercover narc and not a homicide dick. So why is he standing on a sandy beach in California staring at a lifeless body—oh yeah, the suicide attempt. Lieutenant Hanson is making a statement. Something about life worth living. Shows what he knows.
As Vince examines the tortured body, he feels an empathy and déjà vu for the victim, her wounds are similar to scars he has only a vague memory receiving. An intense desire to find her killer fills his queasy belly as a dark game of cat and mouse begins.
The young woman’s death forces Vince back into a secret life dominated by sex, perversion, and sadomasochism. Estranged from his wife he still loves and longing for the man who possessed him once, Vince buries his torment deep inside meaningless sex.

Excerpt:

Vince grabbed the remote and clicked on the news. He paid little attention as he rubbed his aching hip. When Lola Romero began her news report he glanced up to see an official photo of himself in uniform.
“Jesus, talk about an old fucking picture.”
Despite being only twenty-three in the photo, he hadn't appeared young and fresh faced. His eyes had held a kind of darkness even then, and his best efforts were unable to hide the pain.
“An L.A.P.D. Information officer confirmed the return to duty of Detective Vincent Sweetwater just one week after a horrifying display of violence toward a man who was reportedly beating his five-year-old son in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Inglewood. Detective Sweetwater was nearly killed last year in a motorcycle accident on the Pacific Coast Highway and is still under scrutiny following alleged misconduct while under deep cover with the narcotics division.”
“Bite me, Lola.” Vince shut off the TV, flopping back on the bed, staring into the darkness.
“Fuck my life. It was more than a year ago. Bitch.”
I hate people.
199 words:

The room fell silent and he turned back to the freezer. His hand hovered lovingly over the lid before he lifted it. “Hey, pretty. I know what to do with you now. You’re going to meet the son of an old friend.”
The girl had dead-fish eyes. Half-lidded, green once upon a time, they stared unseeing from a frost glittered corpse. Hair like sunburnt grass pricked her high cheekbones and full lips. He smoothed it back stiffly. The realization this would be the last time he felt her youthful body rushed through him like a phantom out of the dark. He was almost surprised at her lack of life.
On a shelf across the room was a black tarp, which he spread on the floor. With singular effort he struggled to get the partially frozen corpse from the freezer. She landed with a sick thud. The man apologized to her as though she were still living, stroking her stiff hair soothingly. He started to roll her in the black plastic, cocooning her in a final darkness, to be reborn from the chrysalis in the morning sunlight. Only then would Vincent Sweetwater come to know her and whom she represented.
