How Sweet It is! The return of Sweet Genius and more!

Be still my beating heart! Sexy Sweet Genius Chef Ron Ben-Israel is back, and not a moment too soon!

As you may recall, I was totally gaga over him in the first season of the series. That hasn't changed, if anything  my feelings have grown stronger! I love this man and his show (as my daughter can testify to my delighted squeals whenever the commercials air!). The second season started a couple weeks ago, bigger and better than ever. Ron is looking quite sexy, as usual. He's changed the format slightly. This season the three rounds are Chocolate, Candy, and Baked, eliminating the frozen round from the competition. There are still mandatory ingredients - two per round - and an inspiration. Some of the inspirations so far have been a very limber gymnast, a gold fish, a graceful ballerina, and bubbles. In the first show, one contestant made a very lovely gold fish! When the ballerina was on, I thought I'd die when Chef Ron not only posed beside her, but formed a tableau with her, encircling her waist! Lucky girl!

I know that some think he is a stern and unyielding taskmaster, but I think there is a playful side to him as well. Why are the good ones either married or gay? Or both? Ah well, I'll have to be content to feed my fantasies through his program, which is excellent. Glad to have you back!

Californication has only one episode to go in its fifth season, but that one promises to be smokin'! ***SPOILERS AHEAD***** I watched last night's episode this morning. Richard (Karen's second hubby) is out of rehab, and he has not only found God, but he's got a sponsor named Gabriel to keep him on the straight and narrow path. Trouble is Hank caught Richard and Gabriel in a compromising position at his going away party (Hank's, not Richard's, though that could change). Charlie was devastated to learn that Lizzie blew Stu to get a part in his picture, although he didn't tell Marci, but it happened again apparently (you know how those accidental blow jobs are). Becca's boyfriend was given Hank's job on Samurai Apocalypse's film, after Stu fired him - and then he caught the scumbag in the bathroom with Sam's girl Callie. Hank's heading back to NY - assuming he lives to do so. One thing you can say about Californication - it's never boring!

Tonight is the two hour season finale of Alcatraz. I'm really glad I started watching this. The premise is interesting, the stories intriguing and Sam Neill is hot as ever. **SPOILERS**  Rebecca and Diego have figured out that Luci is a '63, as they refer to the inmates of Alcatraz who disappeared on March 20, 1963 and are reappearing in the present. We know that Emerson cares about her a great deal, and has been searching for an inmate with a blood match to her in order to bring her out of her coma. That inmate was found last week, now to see what happens.  I sincerely hope Fox brings this show back next season.

What can I say about Justified other than it's great and Timothy Olyphant is hot? (Even though my daughter prefers Boyd Crowder). Winona has disappeared on Raylan - again. I don't know what's wrong with her, but it's compounded by the fact she's pregnant. Gary is dead, executed for his poor choice of business associates. Win Duffy has managed to stay alive by not getting on Quarles' bad side - and Quarles has shown his inner self, and his horrific childhood, sold for having a pretty face by his father. Ava, Boyd's ex sister-in-law-now-gf has shown her mettle and her I won't take shit from anyone attitude, developing into a stronger character than before. Dicky Bennett got released from prison, now there's a growing situation with the money that he thought he had that Limehouse took - a potential powderkeg just waiting to be lit. This show just keeps on getting better, may it run for a damn long time to come.

A new Chopped is starting on April 8th, an All Stars season, with the likes of Michael Symon and Marcus Samuelson. I also saw the one chef I really hated in Next Food Network Star. Yuck. That same night, The Borgias returns - yay!

Awake is going strong, I hope they can keep it up, balancing between each of his waking lives. The writing level is good, the acting wonderful, and Jason Isaacs is incredibly sexy.

I think Once Upon a Time and Grimm are near their season ends too. Both great shows, well worth the watch. I still need to watch the Wonderland episode of Once Upon a Time which aired Sunday. Other than that, it's Chopped and Restaurant Impossible as usual, and just started watching Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey on BBC America. Caught a few minutes of  an undercover restaurant show last night, can't remember the name. It reminded me of a single episode show we caught before that wasn't very good. This was only slightly better, but not very interesting.

I'd like to see more Geoffrey Zakarian on Iron Chef America. Just saying lol

That's all for now, back to editing!

Until next time, take care!

The Conqueror's Chalice Review

The Conqueror’s Chalice
Author: Souya Himaware
Publisher: Digital Manga Publishing
American release date: February 29, 2012
Format/Genre/Length: Manga/Yaoi/219 pages
Publisher/Industry Age Rating: Older Teen, 16+
Overall Personal Rating: ★★★★★

Prince Masoo and his brother Aoto are the eleventh and twelfth children of their father, the king, and as such not likely to advance inside their own country, having too many siblings ahead of them. So Masoo invades the neighboring country of Tou and defeats its ruler. Afterward, all of the defeated king’s wives and children commit suicide rather than live under his rule—all except for one, whom Masoo saves—Prince Kisame. He takes the young boy under his wing, in an uncharacteristic move, and decides to raise him to be the best man he can be. Even if that means that when Kisame grows up, he might kill him and take back his country.

Synopsis:

Even Aoto is surprised at the relationship between Masoo and Kisame, at the way Masoo makes time for him, for he has never known his brother to be interested in, or show any concern for, a child. Masoo insists that Kisame receive the best education, and has Aoto train him in the ways of the sword, claiming he does not wish to be surrounded by fools. When Kisame wakens in the middle of the night from a bad dream, Masoo permits the child to sleep with him, even kicking out a woman he’d been bedding to make room for Kisame. He teaches him that grown men don’t cry, nothing gets solved by crying, so he must find other way to deal with his tears.

From the beginning, Kisame’s devout desire has always been to receive a cup of wine from his lord’s hand. But he has always been too young…

As Kisame matures, he becomes a very attractive young man—and although he is not of age yet, Masoo invites him to his chambers and offers him a chalice of wine. Of course Kisame accepts. Once he is under the alcohol’s influence, Masoo makes his move. He claims Kisame for his bed, telling him that now he is and shall be his toy. Thus their physical relationship begins, despite Kisame’s protestations that he does not wish it to be so. But he is helpless against Masoo’s insistence.

However, there are still forces that are determined to rid the country of its conqueror, and to see the usurped prince back upon the throne. Once that occurs, what will happen between Kisame and Masoo? Will he take revenge on the man who has treated him as a mere toy? Or does the truth lie somewhere else?

Commentary:

This was a really great story of ancient China, I absolutely loved it! Masoo is handsome and arrogant, and he is very self-centered. But there is more to him than that, and he cannot entirely be blamed for the way he is; it’s how he was raised. His relationship with his brother Aoto and with Kisame show that he is also human, a multi-layered character. Kisame does not understand him, and yet he goes to him, because he is forced to. But is that the whole truth? Or does something more lie underneath?

I could have kept reading this story if it had continued. I think  anyone that loves yaoi will enjoy this tale, and find the ending satisfactory. I enjoyed the artwork. Kisame is pretty and Masoo is very handsome. I’d like to see more from this author.

Wednesday Briefs: Dallas in Wonderland 18

Happy Wednesday! Welcome to another edition of the Wednesday Briefs, brought to you by us, the authors, aka the Wednesday Briefers! We hope  you're enjoying reading our flash fiction as much as we're enjoying writing it!

This week we have a Guest Prompt Diva - Nephy!  Her prompt this week's was:....  Take your hands off him! Alternative prompts were:  I cry when I hear that music because....Or Use a gravestone, a popsicle and a pair of feathered slippers. Or There was just something about... that made me want to hide under a blanket  Or  What do you want from me? Don't forget to check out the other Briefers, whose links follow my tale.

Dallas in Wonderland continues. Last week we saw Dr. Levi at the tail end of the sarabande shrimp. Will Dallas finally get his wish? How long will Samuel stay this time? Find out in Chapter 18!

Dallas in Wonderland 18

What do you want from me? was Dallas’ first thought. Well, maybe not his first. That would have more along the lines of fuck yeah, he’s here and I want him. All sentiments duly agreed with and seconded by Dallas’ now very hard cock. It seemed as though the mere sight of Samuel Levi was sufficient to induce an erection. One that could surely split steel, if unleashed.

He had such lovely legs, amply displayed beneath the green plaid kilt. With his red hair, he could easily be mistaken for the end man in an Irish minstrel show. He smiled, and although Dallas had felt aggrieved at his callous abandonment but moments before, he returned the smile, his heart melting all over again.

“Wine?” he echoed, never looking at the libation, his eyes focused solely on Samuel. Hoping, wishing, wanting… He received his wish, when Samuel set the bottle on the ground and pulled Dallas into his arms, their heated lips meeting in a heart-stopping kiss.

The other men began to whistle and catcall, but Dallas didn’t care. If they would leave, so much the better. His desire for this man had only grown hotter with his absence. Given a chance, he’d even make love to him in front of this unwanted audience, so badly did he want Samuel’s touch, to be filled by him completely.

Samuel broke the kiss. Dallas shivered; the good doctor’s tongue slid along his outer ear. “Soon, my sweet,” he whispered, as if he sensed Dallas’ thoughts. And perhaps he did.

He took one of Dallas’ hands in his and spun him prettily about, then pulled him close, so that Dallas’ back was pressed against Samuel’s front. They began to sway together. Somehow, somewhere, “Unchained Melody” began to play. Dallas could feel Samuel’s desire, pressed into the crack of his ass, and the knowledge that Samuel wanted him as badly as he wanted Samuel served to heighten his horniness.

Their ersatz private moment was summarily broken by a hand that wedged itself between Dallas and Samuel. “Excuse me while I cut in,” Leatherman announced. He started to pry Dallas out of the way.  Dallas dug his heels into the sand, but his strength was no match for the other’s and he found himself Dr. Levi-bereft once more.

Enough was enough!

Whirling angrily, he saw the hungry look in the leather clad man’s eyes, the way he was drooling over Samuel.
 My Samuel!

“Take your hands off him!” Acting on pure instinct, Dallas reached for him, applying a grip that Oz had taught him once, just for fun—they’d been playing Star Trek at the time—pinching a nerve along the intruder’s shoulder. He fell to the ground without a sound, completely inert. Dallas stepped over him and back into Samuel’s arms.

“You were magnificent,” Samuel complimented him in his husky contralto.

From the corner of his eye, Dallas watched the policeman approach. He tightened in expectation of the lambasting he was about to receive. But the cop never said a word. In fact, he winked at them both, before dragging Leatherman away, scolding him.

“See? I told you your loose cock would get you into trouble one day, Seymour. You should have listened…”

Seymour?

“Howdy sir.” Another country heard from. The cowboy this time. But at least he made no attempt to separate them. “Welcome to our group. Won’t you please join us? We have some shrimp that we’d like to offer you.”

“And I have the perfect wine.” Samuel nodded to Dallas, and he bent over to retrieve the bottle. From that position, he couldn’t help but look up, at Samuel, standing over him. His eyes were instantly drawn to him. And to what he wasn’t wearing beneath the kilt.

Dallas swallowed—hard—at the sight of Samuel’s magnificent cock, quiescent as it now was. He could only imagine what it looked like in its turgid state.

“Like what you see?” Samuel asked cheekily.

Dallas nodded, unable to speak.

“Excuse us, will you, boys? We’ll be back momentarily.” He pulled Dallas to his feet, linking their arms. Dallas fell into step beside him as they turned inland, away from the beach.  They walked toward what appeared to be a sheer cliff face composed of red stone, at least twenty feet high. Dallas craned his neck toward the top. There seemed no way to scale it. None that he could see, anyway.

As they approached, an odd thing happened. The rocks seemed to part in the middle, opening into a passageway just wide enough for them to walk abreast. Wall sconces flared along either side, lighting their way, and as they
stepped, rose petals strew their path.

Dallas glanced behind him once, curiously. He could see nothing of the group they’d just left, only darkness, as if the others had ceased to exist once they’d stepped between the rocks.

They traversed the narrow path until it opened into a small, private spot. In the center was an aqua lagoon, surrounded by languid palm trees. A hammock hung between two of the trees. Seclusion for two. Dallas’ cock throbbed.

They reached the hammock, standing alongside it. A thumbnail moon hung overhead, surrounded by stars of various constellations. Scorpio. Aries. And one that resembled a hardened penis. The sign of the cock, perhaps?

“Touch me,” Samuel commanded in the same breathy whisper.

Dallas fell to his knees, lifting the kilt, his tongue reaching out and touching Samuel’s cock, licking it. It had a slightly salty, slightly musky, and slightly sweet taste. On his next foray, he thought he tasted a fine wine. What must his semen taste like?

He ran his tongue up and down the length, delighting in the texture of it, touching the various ridges with which it was lined. He took the heavy, weighted balls in one hand and squeezed them, as Samuel stroked his hair gently.

“Not too much,” he cautioned Dallas knowingly. “I have every intention of making love to you… now.”

to be continued

Now see what the other Wednesday Briefers are up to! And don't forget to come back next week for more of Dallas and Samuel!

Early Happy Birthday, Gary!

Those people who know me well know that my favorite obsession...er, actor... is Englishman Gary Oldman. I've been head over heels for him for over eighteen years. He's just as beautiful to me now as he was then, even more so. I'm sorry that he lost his bid for an Oscar this year for his performance in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, but being nominated was something, anyway. As far as I'm concerned, the Oscars are fairly meaningless, as they are not a true barometer of talent, or what was the best in any given field, but a political fashion statement. But let's put that aside and concentrate on Gary, shall we? I would have done this tomorrow, but tomorrow's Wednesday, and that means Wednesday Brief, so a day early.

Gary was born March 21, 1958. I am not going to give his bio here, it's easy to find. I'm just going to post some pics and say Happy Birthday to a very talented and incredibly handsome man!

I think this is my favorite picture of him ever!

He was so dead sexy in this! Who could tell this man no? Not me! I loved the backstory with Mina in this. I cried when she broke his heart for that sissy Harker (horribly played by Keanu Reeves). This version comes closest to the book that I've seen. I really hate the Frank Langella version. I saw it at the theatre and wanted my money back.

From the movie he was nominated for, Tinker Tailor Soldier, Spy. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to see it  yet, but I hear it's quite good.

Apparently, Gary gave up the Golden Globes to wear Prada. And yes, he once played the Devil. Appropriate!  Not to mention, he looks very hot in that. Of course, he looks hot in anything - or nothing!

Sirius Black, Harry Potter's godfather. I had loved Sirius before Gary got the role, I only loved him more afterward. My all-time favorite HP character, the one I've played the most, and written more fanfiction about. He didn't die, by the way. That was a vicious rumour started by Lord Voldemort.  (Shhh, don't try to burst my bubble!)

Here lies Mason Verger... literally. Character from Hannibal. I love the Hannibal series, and was totally ecstatic when Gary got this role. If you didn't know it was him, you wouldn't recognize him. He added his own touch to the part, of course. If you watched the movie but didn't read the book, let me tell you that that was not how Mason died, being thrown to the boars by Cordell. His sister killed him, using a huge eel. But Margot Verger is missing from the film. I believe there were credit issues involved with this film.

I really liked Shelley Runyon (obviously, I use the name in my email!) Surprisingly, since Shelley is a staunch Republican and rather conservative. Although he is painted as the villain in The Contender, he really isn't, and he is simply upholding his ideals. However, there were issues with the script, I know. Makes me wonder if movie studios aren't as difficult as publishers to work with at times.

Norman Stansfield - The Professional. I love this film, and I love Gary in it! This is one I can get my son to watch with me, also the next one I'm going to post. This was Natalie Portman's first film, and she's awesome in it.

Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg - The Fifth Element. This may have been written when Luc Besson was a teenager - and yes, in some ways you can tell it is - but it's still a good film and I never get tired of it.

Commissioner James Gordon - Batman Begins and Dark Knight. Great films, I loved them, can't wait for the next one. My daughter likes to refer to him here as Ned Flanders, because of his moustache.

Who could possibly resist this smile?  Not me!

Dead fucking sexy!

Air Force One. Alas, he dies at the end, kicked off Harrison Ford's plane. Good film, though, and he's good in it.

So in conclusion, I wish to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the sexiest man ever!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARY, AND MANY MORE!

No Place Like Home Contest!

I apologize for not having been around for a few days, but I worked at KawaKon, an anime/Japanese culture convention here in St. Louis during that time. And when I say worked, I mean worked my ass off and my fingers to the bone! lol

But it's all over now, and so is my participation with the convention (which may not happen again anyway), so to make up for my absence and to celebrate being home in my own bed (Yay! Hotels are nice, but they're not really conducive to sleep!), let's have a contest! The rules are simple -

1) Be a follower

2) Comment on my blog and tell me why there's no place like home

3) Don't forget to give me your email addy!

The winner will receive his or her choice of my books!

I'll run the contest until midnight Sunday, March 25th.

Good luck!

Guest Blogger Diana DeCameron

Today I am proud to welcome my friend and fellow author Diana DeCameron, who was brave enough to answer my infamous Rick Reed questions! Her first book, Courting the Flame, releases in June, and I'm proud to say that I edited this book and it is a winner! She'll be back to talk more about the book, but today we'll give you a peek at the cover. Diana, why don't I fix us some cappuccinos and you go ahead and answer the questions?

The Questions
1)      You’re marooned on a small island with one person and one item of your choice—who is that person and what item do you have?
Hmmmm. What a precarious situation, indeed! If I choose my husband, then I must leave my two boys behind. If I choose one of my boys, then I must leave my other son and my husband behind. All unacceptable choices. (drums fingers on computer desk) Wait. I’ve got it! My answer? I will go it alone. That way the rest of my family will still have each other for love and support while they scour the ends of the earth to find me. (narrows eyes) Which they had better do. As for my item of choice? Pfffffft. A loaded flare gun. Did I mention that I need to get off this island and back to my family?

2)      Which musical would you say best exemplifies your life – and which character in that musical are you?
Wow. A musical? You’re killin’ me. Okay…let me think. Think, think, think, think…Oh, wait. I’ve got one. How about “The King and I”? My character would be Anna Leonowens, the British school teacher who journeys to Siam in the early 1860’s to teach the children of King Mongkut. Although I’m not British, I am a schoolteacher. I absolutely LOVE the 1800’s! And let us not forget the love conflict between Anna and the King. They both love each other desperately, but  don’t always express it properly. Yep…that’s me.

3)      Take these three words and give me a 100 word or less scenario using them:  engineering, worst, way
These are my three words? Are you kidding me?! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Fine…

It had been the worst of nights! I gulped down my now cold coffee and checked the clock. Two AM. Another fruitless evening! Perhaps engineering would have been a better career choice. Not that numbers had ever been my thing but, considering my word count for the evening, ”writer” also seemed way off.

“So then you did miss me?” he whispered.

I straightened my back. “Only…desperately.” I exhaled. My where-have-you-been muse tugged my face toward his. “You know I can’t do this without you.” I shrugged.

“And you know I’m not real.” He smiled.

“Do I…?”

4)      Describe what "sexy" means to you, and using your definition, who is your favorite "sexy character" of all time? As a challenge, pick two characters - one of your own, and one belonging to someone else.
In my mind, sexy equals self-confidence. Oh, and the typical romance novel male with bulging muscles??? Sorry. He doesn’t do it for me. I prefer tall, dark, and cut. No question, my sexy man has a fantastic body, but he keeps it well concealed under his buttoned down shirt… much like a secret weapon (waggles eyebrows). On a metaphysical level, I’m all about positive energy. I want to be lifted up when we’re together, not drug down. So my sexy male exudes positive energy. I’m also a bit old fashioned, so I enjoy having doors opened for me.

As for the “sexiest character” of all time that I’ve created, my favorite is Michael Turner. In my opinion, Michael is the perfect male. He’s confident, determined, and seductive. Tall, dark, and cut, Michael is also comfortable showing us his softer side! When he’s angry, look out! When he’s sad…(sigh) “Ohhhhh…Michael.” He also knows how to adjust his approach according to a woman’s cues. That’s right, ladies. He actually listens to what we say. And talk about the patience of a saint! Yeah. Michael’s perfect.

My favorite “sexiest character” of all time created by someone else might seem like an odd choice, but I’m going to have to go with Aragorn. I’m a huge Tolkien fan and The Lord of the Rings was the first “grown up” book I’d ever read. I think I was 13 or so when I picked it up and I just remember sighing every time Aragorn’s name graced the page.

5)      What is your idea of how to spend romantic time with your significant other?
Walking hand-in-hand along the beach at sunset. Sigh. Very romantic!

6)      When you start a new story, do you begin with a character, or a plot?
For me, the first step is definitely  “the spark”. Sometimes it’s hiding in a song, a piece of artwork, a fragrance, the dishwater, the shower. As for the actual writing, most of the time I just sit down and start typing. I allow the ideas to flow through me and…BAM!!! My story takes shape. It’s a very organic process. In the case of my second book, I did attempt some plotting, but all it did was frustrate me. I kept arguing with myself, and it sounded something like this. “What?! Don’t tell me that!” (Plugs up ears) “You’re ruining this for me!”

I do find value in character development, though. I liken it to getting to know a new friend… or enemy. I offer them some coffee and chocolate, and they agree to tell me their life story. It really is a win-win for both of us, LOL!

7)      If they were to make the story of your life into a movie, who should play you?
Ha, ha, ha…well, my friend Tom once told me I reminded him of Elaine Benes from Seinfeld. I couldn’t argue with him. (shoulder shrug) She is a bit neurotic. She’s not afraid to speak her mind. AND she continually finds herself in precarious situations. Perhaps if Julia Louis-Dryfus isn’t doing anything, she could play me.

8)      Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?
(Shivers) Definitely The Shining’s Jack Torrance! Actually, I think The Shining may be my all time favorite horror movie, as well. I love the way Jack slowly unravels. I think the typewriter scene really captures the withering away of his sanity. Yeah! Definitely Jack Torrance.

9)      Do you have an historical crush and if so, who is it?
Sir Lancelot, without question! He’s perfect in so many ways—yet also tragically flawed. He’d give his life for King Arthur, yet cannot deny his connection/attraction to Guinevere. Such a wonderfully tragic love story…(sigh)

10   Is there a story that you’d like to tell but you think the world isn’t ready to receive it?
Yes. (Cue long awkward pause) Why. Are. You. Looking at me like that? (eyes slide from side to side) You did ask me a “yes” or “no” question. Correct? And I did answer you. Yes??

Now, let's sneak a peek at Courting the Flame, shall we?

Gracie is rudderless since the recent death of her husband. Trusting to Fate and the flip of a coin, she returns to Boston, unsure of herself and what to do. She meets Chloe—an eccentric young artist with a vibrant personality—and they instantly click. But then there’s Michael…Gracie can’t explain the attraction between them, the way she’s always backing into him. The matter is compounded by the presence of her dearly departed Johnathan. He’s still there, and Gracie clings to his ghostly presence as if he were her lifeline. Without him, she can’t even sleep in a proper bed!

With the support of her new friends, Gracie begins to develop into a strong woman, each step taking her closer to Michael. Unwilling to let go, Johnathan grows increasingly abusive, threatening all the people that Gracie loves. It’s up to Gracie to uncover the truth about the invisible thread that binds them all together, and the ripple effect that perpetuating that thread has had on them all… before it’s too late.

I'm here to tell you, this is one romance you won't soon forget!

Have any questions for Diana? Any comments? She'd love to hear them!

Until next time, take care!
