Guest Blogger: Cheryl Headford

Please welcome my dear friend and fellow author, Cheryl Headford, who is going to tell us about her newest release!
Have a seat, Cheryl, make yourself at home. You're looking lovely! I'll grab us some drinks, why don't I?

There are those who can’t see, and those who don’t want to see, but we are all blind sometimes

Ace is seventeen years old; bright, beautiful and blind. He shares his life between a progressive school which is teaching him to be independent and capable of living a full life; and home, where his family seem determined to prevent him from doing so.

Over protective parents and spiteful, jealous brothers, are enough to try the patience of a saint. So far, Ace has let them get on with it and sailed through his life, marking time at home and only truly living at school. However, that can’t last, and with his last year of school coming up and the spectre of having to fight to attend university hanging over him, it’s time to take a stand.

Fortunately, a ring of the doorbell one afternoon, radically changes his life and, with a new boyfriend at his side, Ace s ready to take on the world.

Ace has never been one to let his blindness get in the way if he could help it and he has lots of things that help. Here are a few of his favourite things, which you can find in the story and which are actually available out there for anyone to find.

Telephone

One of Ace’s brothers’ favourite occupations is to buy him outrageous clothes and possessions. Not being able to see what he’s wearing or using, Ace knows no better and provides his brothers with countless hours of hilarious entertainment at his expense.

Until he meets Haze, Ace has no idea that the phone he uses is a pink, Disney Princess™ one. One of the first things Haze does for Ace is take him out shopping and one of the things they bought is a new phone.
The phone was something like this

with large buttons, small screen and screen reader.
There are even more specialised phones available which Ace could have gone for but, as far as I’m aware, these aren’t available on the main street

The screen reading feature, where the phone ‘talks’ to you and ‘listens’ to you, is the most revolutionary thing for Ace. He can now access many of the features we take for granted, that were closed to him before; things like setting alarms and reminders, browsing, reading texts, and many more. He’s so delighted with it he’d have been happy to spend a whole afternoon playing with the features.

Books

Ace loves to read, and Haze gets quite a shock when he takes a look at the bookshelf.

Ace’s books are bigger and heavier than ‘normal’ books and have neither words nor pictures, at least none Haze can see. The books are written in Braille, which is a system of raised dots, representing letters, numbers and punctuation. It was developed by Louis Braille (1809 – 1852), who was himself blind, as a teaching method for his blind students.

Braille is used for everything from public signs, to books, to menus to music annotation. It is generally worked across a ‘cell’ of six dots in three rows of two. In each cell one or more of the dots are raised and it is the pattern of raised dots that makes the letter, number, word etc.

Ace’s favourite books are Harry Potter

Computer
Ace’s computer is a lifeline. Not only does it allow him to conduct research, do schoolwork and keep up to date with what’s going on in the world, but it allows him to keep in touch with his friends via Skype. Haze meets Ace’s best friend, James in this way, and boy do sparks fly.

Ace’s computer has a number of special features, such as the screen reader, and also a special braille keyboard

Ace finds a very sensual way of demonstrating how everything works, which gets Haze a little hot under the collar.

With all his technology and specialist knowledge, however, there is really only one thing that opens the world, both real and cyber, to Ace, and that’s his own courage and confidence in himself, which he has with plenty to spare. With his heart and Haze’s ferocious protectiveness, there seems to be very little they can’t achieve together.

 Blurb

Ace is blind and Haze is damaged. They live in different worlds and not everyone is happy when they become boyfriends. Haze is struggling with the after effects of a traumatic event in his past that has left him at the mercy of an uncontrollable rage. When Ace’s brother steps up his campaign of torment against Ace, they’re all in danger from Haze’s outbursts, though it isn’t until things get completely out of control that the healing can really begin. But with Ace unseeing and Haze perched on the edge of a cliff, will either of them survive long enough to benefit?

Excerpt
While the computer was starting up, Ace took off his glasses and put them on the table, rubbing his eyes.
“They make my eyes ache after a while. They’re really heavy on my nose.”
“I’m not surprised, they’re…er…big. Why do you wear them all the time?”
“I don’t know. I suppose…because I’m not quite so much of a freak with them on as without them on.” He tilted his face up and seemed to regard me thoughtfully. There was something about the way the sun touched his face and made his hair glow that made me shiver.
In the midst of all the golden light his hair was not so much white as the palest spun gold and his pale skin seemed to be even more translucent, almost iridescent. He was fey, like some faery creature only partly in this world. I bit my lip, trying vainly to stop my mind taking me down dangerous roads. This was definitely not the time to be having those kinds of thoughts.
“Can I…touch you?”
“What? Uh…um…what do you mean?” I jumped half out of my skin at the sound of his voice and even more so at what he said. Had he read my mind?
“Your face. Can I touch your face? I can’t see what you look like but my fingers can tell me if you’ll let me touch you.”
“Oh. Of course.”
I stood perfectly still as he got up from the chair and stood close in front of me. His long white hair fell across his face, I had an urge to brush it out of his eyes, except of course that would have been stupid.
It was strange how pretty his eyes were up close. They weren’t colourless after all. There was a ring of pale violet around the milky pupils and a much darker violet around the outer edges of the irises. They were stunningly beautiful, and I couldn’t take my eyes off them.
I was still staring at them when his cool fingers brushed against my cheek. The touch was gentle and hesitant but still startled me.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“You didn’t. It’s just…” I tore myself away from studying his face. “I was just surprised by how beautiful your eyes are.” I could have bitten off my tongue. What a stupid thing to say. For God’s sake, I just met the boy. What the hell was I doing?
“They…they are?” The objects in question opened wide and a hesitant smile touched his lips. “Really?”
“Oh yes.”
He blushed delicately. “No one has ever told me that before.” Biting his lip, his face turned reflective. “Most people just say they’re weird if they can bring themselves to look at them. I get the impression that most people avoid doing so. That’s one of the reasons I wear my glasses all the time.”
“Then most people are blinder than you are.” Bloody hell! That was totally unlike me. I was far too ordinary to be that bold. But it was awesome to see the smile break over Ace’s face and light it up.
“Hold still,” he said softly and brushed his fingertips across my cheek again. A shiver went through me and I closed my eyes as he continued his exploration of my face.
When he had finished with my face, he touched my hair and let it slide through his fingers. His face changed subtly, and I shivered again.
“You’re beautiful, Haze,” he said as he let his hand fall.
“If you think that, then your fingers are as blind as your eyes.”
For a moment he seemed shocked then he grinned. “Do you have any idea how many people would be scared of saying those things to me?”
“What things?”
He shook his head. “You’re a breath of fresh air, Hazel Fennell. I haven’t felt so…light, in years.”
“Light?”
“Yeah…”
Bio

Cheryl was born into a poor mining family in the South Wales Valleys. Until she was 16, the toilet was at the bottom of the garden and the bath hung on the wall. Her refrigerator was a stone slab in the pantry and there was a black lead fireplace in the kitchen. They look lovely in a museum but aren’t so much fun to clean.

Cheryl has always been a storyteller. As a child, she’d make up stories for her nieces, nephews and cousin and they’d explore the imaginary worlds she created, in play.

Later in life, Cheryl became the storyteller for a re enactment group who travelled widely, giving a taste of life in the Iron Age. As well as having an opportunity to run around hitting people with a sword, she had an opportunity to tell stories of all kinds, sometimes of her own making, to all kinds of people. The criticism was sometimes harsh, especially from the children, but the reward enormous.

It was here she began to appreciate the power of stories and the primal need to hear them. In ancient times, the wandering bard was the only source of news, and the storyteller the heart of the village, keeping the lore and the magic alive. Although much of the magic has been lost, the stories still provide a link to the part of us that still wants to believe that it’s still there, somewhere.

In present times, Cheryl lives in a terraced house in the valleys with her son and her two cats. Her daughter has deserted her for the big city, but they’re still close. The part of her that needs to earn money is a lawyer, but the deepest, and most important part of her is a storyteller and artist, and always will be.

Wednesday Briefs: Trapped in TIme 2: Chapter 3

If it's Wednesday, it must be time for some flash fiction from the Wednesday Briefers! Hello and Happy Hump Day!

As you'll recall from last week in Trapped in Time II, Vittorio is still missing, and our little band has run across a group of actors, who will escort them to the nearest town. But one of them seems to have his eye on Doll. Hmmm... Don't forget to see what the other Briefers are up to. Their links follow my tale. Enjoy!

Trapped in Time II: Chapter 3

I guess that we will now be traveling with the acting troupe, at least until we reach the next town. Then we can be rid of them, and good riddance I say.

Shaughnessy’s group consists of four covered wagons, populated by about a dozen or so actors.  At least, I assume they are all actors, but it doesn’t really matter to me who or what they are. They set up camp a short distance from us, too close for my taste, but the others seem to welcome their company, so there is little I can say.

Shaughnessy makes a gift to us of a chicken. Or, rather, to me, as I am the appointed chef for our group. Apparently his little troupe is well supplied with food, as he tells us, and wish to share what they have.  Especially in light of Vati’s invitation to him to dine with us. What else can I do but graciously accept this gift and roast it for dinner? I suppose I shouldn’t complain so much, but knowing me, I probably will.

This is such a far cry from our dinners in the jungle, in so many ways. I have better utensils to cook with, a proper campfire, and actual spices with which to season the food. I even make a fresh loaf of bread. And yet it tastes no better than what we had before. In fact, I think it tastes worse.

Of course I know why that is. Vittorio is not here and without him, nothing tastes or feels right.

I had hoped that after he ate, Shaughnessey would return to his people, but my hopes are dashed when Vati invites him to stay longer. Now here we are, sitting about the fire, the only light in the dense darkness of the night.

Myron is completely smitten with the Irishman. No, not in that way. He still has Charlie, and they are still very much together. But rather he is fascinated with him because he is an actor. I supposed if circumstances were otherwise, I’d be more interested myself, as both Vittorio and I have a love for the performing arts, whether on the stage or at the theater. But right now I find the man an annoying pain in the ass.

Myron and Charlie sit on one side of Shaughnessey, my father is seated on the other side, while I have removed myself to a spot farther from them, yet still within the radius of the light. “Tell us more stories about being on the road,” the besotted Myron begs, for he has regaled them with anecdotes all during dinner. Places he’s seen, people he’s met, crowned heads of Europe he’s performed for. I think he is full of hot air, but they seem to hang on every word as if it is gospel.

“Have you ever been to Paris?” Myron asks. For some reason, he has the idea that Paris is the cat’s meow of culture in Europe, and all things French are amazing. At least he’s gotten over his obsession with Italian things, if you know what I mean.

“That I have, that I have. Performed for the king. Let me tell you...” And off he goes, rambling about something or the other.

I’m tired of listening. My head and my heart both ache, and his voice, it grates on my nerves. I rise and slip quietly away, far enough so that the sound of his chatter cannot disturb me. I stare up into the sky, at the silent moon, which is close to being full, and I pick out the familiar patterns of the stars. There is Orion’s Belt, and there the Big Dipper. The “Dog Star”, Sirius, gleams brightly. How often have Vittorio and I lain together and stared at this familiar sight?

I sigh, shivering slightly. I should probably return to the warmth of the fire, but I am not ready for that. Not yet.

I hear a snap behind me. On edge, I spin about, my heart in my throat.

“Forgive me, I did not mean to startle you,” Shaughnessey apologizes.

I manage to refrain from growling or snapping out something that would be undoubtedly rude. Instead, I eye him, wondering why he is here and what he wants.

“Your father told me of your loss, Adalbert, and I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I know how it hurts to lose someone.”

“I have not lost him!” I vehemently spit out. “Vittorio is not lost and you do not know what you speak of.”

He holds up his hand in a placating manner. “I seem to have stuck my foot into my mouth, haven’t I?” He takes a step closer to me and I stiffen. “I only want to help. It hurts me to see such a fine young man as yourself in such pain.”

He reaches a hand toward me and I take a step back from him, decidedly uncomfortable at the turn this conversation has taken, as well as his intentions. Who does he think he is? And what does he want from me? We stand frozen in this awkward tableau until I hear my father’s voice calling my name.

“Doll, there you are, I was worried about you.” He looks from me to Shaughnessey, but he doesn’t seem to notice anything odd, and so I say nothing.

“Tomorrow,” Shaughnessey continues, as if nothing untoward has occurred between us, “I shall put a smile on that handsome face.” He winks at me and grins. “And that is a promise you can put in your pipe and smoke.” He laughs and walks away, back toward the fire.  My father seems amused. He chuckles.
I, on the other hand, am not.

“Doll, please come back to the fire.” He takes my arm gently. “There may be wild animals.”

I walk back with him, my concern for Vittorio only skyrocketing at that thought. Is he somewhere safe and warm? Is he searching for me too?

Now go see what the other Briefers are up to!

BLURB:

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Finn McGraw disagrees.

He was just seventeen when he had a torrid summer affair with the girl who stole his heart—and then inexplicably turned on him. Finn may have moved on with his life, but he’s never forgotten her.

Now, ten years later, he’s got more than his lost love to worry about. A horrific accident turns his life upside down, resurrecting the ghosts of his long-dead family and taking the lives of the few people he has left.

Finn always believed his estranged brother was responsible for the fire that killed their family—but an unexpected inheritance with a mystery attached throws everything he knows into doubt.

And on top of that, the beguiling daughter of his wealthy employer has secrets of her own. But the closer he gets, the harder she pushes him away.

The Seacrest is a story of intrigue and betrayal, of secrets and second chances—and above all, of a love that never dies.

EXCERPT:

July 2, 1997

I’ll never forget the day I fell in love with her.

There she stood, all tall and lanky, dark hair blowing in the breeze as if it loved caressing her face.

She held a beach ball and faced the sea.

She was sixteen.

That’s all it took. That one salty, sandy, sunshiny day—forever staked in my memory.

Her father had claimed a spot on Paines Creek Beach, right next to ours. They laid out a red-and-white striped blanket and matching umbrella with beach chairs, a cooler filled with watermelon and soda, and white paper bags that smelled of fries and burgers.

I’d settled on a beach towel next to my grandfather, Dex McGraw, surreptitiously watching them.

Gramps sat beside me, drinking from a cold thermos of gin and ice, his favorite. He sat with his shirt off and long legs stretched out, his head back and shaggy silver-blond hair glinting in the sun. He always told me his time was “before the hippies,” but I had a feeling he would have made a good one. He was one helluva rebel. And he always stood up for what was right, no matter what.

He saw me watching the girl and casually appraised her, gray eyes slit and his head nodding in approval. With a low whisper, he turned to me. “Pretty girl.”

I know I blushed, because at sixteen that’s all I seemed to do when girls were involved. “Yeah. I guess.” I traced circles in the sand with my forefinger. The sun burned the skin on my back and shoulders, although I’d slathered plenty of sunscreen on earlier at my mother’s insistence.

Guest Blogger: Sam Singer

Please welcome fellow Dreamspinner author, Sam Singer, who has bravely answered my infamous Rick
Reed questions, and is going to tell us about her latest release, Beautiful Dreamer! Have a seat, Sam, make yourself comfortable. Go ahead and begin, why don't you?

The Questions –Sam Singer
1)      You’re marooned on a small island with one person and one item of your choice—who is that person and what item do you have?

The clean answer would be survivalist Bear Grylls and my Kindle.  The dirty answer would be Jared Padalecki and a bottle of KY Warming.

2)    Which musical would you say best exemplifies your life – and which character in that musical are you?
I am not a fan of musicals, but I really like Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd but more closely identify with Johanna.

3)      Take these three words and give me a 100 word or less scenario using them:  rank, window, test
Put me on the spot, why don’t ya.  I’m not really good at things like this.  The only thing that comes to mind is a character trying to get into a locked window and not being able to and it is testing his patience.

4)      You’ve just been let loose in the world of fiction, with permission to do anyone you want. Who do you fuck first and why?
Are we speaking of literary fiction only, or does ‘fiction’ encompass television as well?  If it is that latter, without question my answer is Sam Winchester.  If we are speaking of literary fiction I would say Aragorn from the LOTR.  Both are heroic, noble men and that is very sexy.

5)      What is your idea of how to spend romantic time with your significant other?

I’m very much a homebody,  so curling up on the couch and watching a movie is pretty ideal for me.

   6)     When you start a new story, do you begin with a character, or a plot?
Plot always comes first.  Most times my plot is just a “what if scenario”.  Like my current WIP began with the scenario what if your alcoholic ex-lover showed up to make amends.

7)      If they were to make the story of your life into a movie, who should play you?
My life is unremarkable so there would never be a movie but if there was I think Helena Bonham Carter
should play me.  She could capture my unique brand of weirdness.

8)      Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?
John Kramer from the SAW franchise, because he was just a human.  A human doing horrific things to other humans is more frightening to me than traditional boogeymen like Jason or Freddy.

9)      Do you have an historical crush and if so, who is it?
Nope.  No one.

10)   Is there a story that you’d like to tell but you think the world isn’t ready to receive it?
I can’t think of one.

“I… can I tell you something that might sound—er—that will sound mad?”

Charles’s brows came together, and he nodded. “Certainly.”

“I have these… dreams. I have had them all of my life, and they are always about this same young man. If I am honest, I feel closer to this boy I dream about than anyone in my life, except you.”

Charles shrugged and continued to walk toward the carriage house, Nicholas following. “Well, is that so unusual? If you have had these dreams all your life. You have grown up with this boy you dream about, and you’ve only known me two years. Your own family rarely pays any attention to you unless it is to tell you to stop reading and grow up.”

Nicholas was never more grateful for Charles’s easy acceptance as he was at that moment. It was such a release to finally be able to openly talk about his dreams and his dream lover without fear of ridicule or shame that the words poured out of him.

“I love him, Charles. He’s not real but I’m absolutely in love with him. I ache with it. He is all I think about. He is so intelligent, funny, and indescribably beautiful. I wake up and I feel as if I have spent hours with him, yet none of it was real.” Nicholas raked a hand through his hair, frustrated at himself and this situation. “But it feels real. I am alive when I am with him in a way that I am not while I’m awake. I am… whole, but when I do wake up and he is not there, I have to realize all over again that it was only a dream and that what we have is not real, that he is not real, and I grieve, Charles. It is like… like he has died and part of me is dead too. There are mornings I wake up and simply weep until I fall back to sleep.”

Nicholas felt tears stinging his eyes, and he struggled to hold them back. He had never been so vulnerable in front of another person, never shared these thoughts with another living soul. Charles, God bless him, was looking at him with sympathy and heartbreak in his own eyes, not judgment or worry.

“How pathetic am I? I am in love with someone I can never have.” A sob worked its way from Nicholas’s throat and as hard as he fought, he couldn’t hold it back. Charles didn’t hesitate. He closed the distance between them and took Nicholas in a strong embrace.

“There are times,” Nicholas whispered, fighting to get the words out, “when I think of ending it all so I can sleep forever and be with him. Madness, right? It’s madness. I have lost my mind, have I not?” Nicholas clung to Charles, silently begging for strength and reassurance, for he had neither right now.

“It is not madness to want love, Nicholas. Love is the greatest force in the world. Nothing can stop it, not time, not distance, and not even death. But think of this, your dreams may seem so real because you are alive. If you took your life, how do you know that you would be united with your beloved? You do not. Maybe your lover is out there somewhere dreaming of you, and you have to trust and hope you will find each other. I refuse to believe that God would be so cruel as to keep you from your dearest love.”

A weight Nicholas hadn’t realized he carried lifted from his shoulders, and his heart felt lighter.

Thanks for stopping by, Sam, come back any time!

Until next time, take care!

Who doesn't love a hot criminal and more

So I have new favorite hot criminal (which doesn't mean I'm forsaking Hannibal, not by any means).
Interesting that these two co-exist on the same network. Perhaps NBC is returning to what they once were, the strongest network for dramas? Even if they did cancel my darling Jason's Awake. But now they have brought me The Blacklist and I am happy indeed.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, James Spader plays Raymond "Red" Reddington, criminal mastermind extraordinaire, who one day suddenly and inexplicably surrenders himself to the FBI and offers to help them catch some of the most heinous criminals loose in society.

But there's a catch. He'll only deal with one person - brand new profiler Lizzie Keen, played by Megan Boone. It's her first day on the job, and she is as baffled as her employers as to why Red wants to deal only with her, but she complies, and so it begins. This show is smart, clever, dramatic, twisty, exciting, but mostly it lives and breathes because of James Spader, who brings Reddington to life. Do not confuse him for another Hannibal Lecter, far from it. Besides the capturing of wanted criminals, there is a subplot involving Lizzie's husband, as well as the mystery surrounding Red's need to have her in his life. Long lost father? Too simple, too pat and too trite, methinks. So we must patiently wait for the answer, which is no problem. As long as I have Red to look at, I'm good.

And speaking of NBC, they recently debuted another drama, Dracula, which runs on Friday nights, starring
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, last seen as Henry VIII in The Tudors. I was skeptical, I must admit. I tend to be very wary of anyone who wishes to take license with one of my favorite stories - and oh, how they have butchered it in the past. But I had to watch, to see for myself, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised.

The story takes place in Victorian London, 1881, at the point in the book where Dracula arrives in England.
In this version, he re-invents himself, with the help of his faithful assistant Renfield as American entrepeneur Alexander Grayson, come to shed some "light" on British society. JRM does a good American accent, I must admit. And he's certainly easy on the eyes. We have the people we expect to see from the novels, but with twists in the plot. Mina Murray is a medical student, working to become a doctor, under the tutelage of Abraham Van Helsing (who, by the way, is the person responsible for reviving our sexy vampire in the first place and, in this incarnation of the character, is working with him). Mina's boyfriend, Jonathan Harker, is a poor journalist who has trouble providing the lifestyle Mina is accustomed to, especially as she is friends with the wealthy Lucy Westenra and her family. To add fun to the mix, there is a group of devoted fanatics, the Order of the Dragon, determined to exterminate vampires wherever they may be found - so built-in enemy.

The show is off to a great start and I am enjoying it immensely and look forward to the rest of the season. The cinematography is great, everything is beautifully done. The costumes, the sets, everything simply cry out Victorian England. NBC has another winner on its hands, I believe. Keep up the good work, guys! And do not hesitate to show us more of JRM!

Once Upon a Time is back, and this season, we're in Neverland, where Peter Pan has kidnapped Henry to,
and the others have followed, except for Neal/Baelfire. *****SPOILERS AHEAD**** In case you haven't been watching, everyone thinks Neal is dead, but no, he just ended up in the Enchanted Forest and, with the help of Mulan and Robin Hood, he is now in Neverland. Well, Mr. Gold knows, but he's not with the others. Emma, Snow, Charming, Regina, and Hook are traveling together, and Hook is putting the moves on Emma bigtime. He now knows that Neal is alive. It will be interesting to see what he does with the knowledge. Henry is becoming more of a Lost Boy the longer he stays with Pan, who believes him to be the True Believer that he needs.

I can't stand Pan, and I still heartily dislike Hook. My favorite character is undoubtedly Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin. It will be interesting to see if he can redeem his relationship with his son and help to save Henry. I am hoping Belle's influence will help him stay on the right path, and his own love for his son and grandson. Robert Carlyle brings such dimension to his portrayal of Gold, who is neither all good nor all bad. I still dislike Regina as much as ever too. I hope that some day we'll get to see the Hatter again, but if nothing else, I get to watch Sebastian Stan in the next Captain America ***MORE SPOILERS**** And yes, for those who don't know, he is the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, and no, he did not die.

This season, ABC has brought us a spin-off from Once Upon a Time, which is Once Upon a Time in
Wonderland. As its name suggests, it concerns the exploits of Alice in Wonderland. This is another favorite tale of mine, one which I don't suffer lightly to be harmed. Sarah and I are watching it together, although she doesn't watch Once Upon a Time. There is only one reason for her interest in this, and it's a good one, I must admit. Naveen Andrews, last seen in Sinbad, plays Jafar. He is one seriously sexy man, and he is the reason I am still watching because although the show isn't bad, per se, it does not have the same strong writing as Once Upon a Time (the spin-off is the collaboration of the producers of UPaT and the writers of Lost). Alice has escaped from the mental institution she's been placed in, searching for her lost love, the genie of the lamp, Cyrus, who is being held by Jafar and the Red Queen. John Lithgow (in CGI) plays the perfidious White Rabbit. Alice is being helped in her quest to find Cyrus by the wanted criminal the Knave of Hearts. So far, the show is rather one note. If not for Jafar, I'd probably not take the time to watch it, as I have a lot of other things to watch. But he keeps drawing me. Lose him and you'll definitely lose this viewer.

I should probably stop there and continue tomorrow. I have other new shows to discuss, including Masters of Sex and Sleepy Hollow, plus some returning faves - like Grimm and Hawaii 5-0. But I have editing to do, books to write. So I'll bid you have a good day, and talk to you later!

Until next time, take care!

BLURB:

WHERE WERE YOU THE DAY KENNEDY WAS SAVED?

On the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination comes a new edition of the extraordinary time-travel thriller first published in 2003 with a new Afterword from the authors.

On November 22, 1963, just hours after President Kennedy’s assassination, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President aboard Air Force One using JFK’s own Bible. Immediately afterward, the Bible disappeared. It has never been recovered. Today, its value would be beyond price.

In the year 2000, actress Cady Cuyler is recruited to return to 1963 for this Bible—while also discovering why her father disappeared in the same city, on the same tragic day. Finding frightening links between them will lead Cady to a far more perilous mission: to somehow prevent the President’s murder, with one unlikely ally: an ex-Marine named Lee Harvey Oswald.

Forward to Camelot: 50th Anniversary Edition brings together an unlikely trio: a gallant president, the young patriot who risks his own life to save him, and the woman who knows their future, who is desperate to save them both.

History CAN be altered …

EXCERPTS :

The man in the doorway was yawning, and his bright chestnut hair, flecked with threads of gray, was tousled. He wore half glasses down on his nose and held a thick typewritten report in one hand. His navy silk tie was pulled down, his white shirt was rumpled. His eyes, though bloodshot, focused on us politely.

I was face to face with President John F. Kennedy.

He looked at us, puzzled, and glanced around the empty hallway.

I knew if I didn’t speak that I’d never have another chance, but I couldn’t think of a thing to say. The President looked at us, raised an eyebrow.

Quick, Cady, say something. “Mr. President, my name is Cady Cuyler.” Beside me, I felt Lee start at the words. “I’ve come a long way to speak to you. Please, it’s very urgent.”

He was still puzzled. “Where’s my Secret Service detail?”

I took a deep breath. In for a penny, in for a pound. “They’re out drinking at a nightclub called The Cellar, here in Fort Worth. They left some Fort Worth firemen to guard you. They’ll be pretty hung over in the morning.”

Kennedy looked down at me. His eyes were a bit brighter, though it was now close to 2:00 a.m.  He looked over at Lee, who gave him a tense smile, and stood almost at military attention. He looked back at me and asked quietly, “And how do you know this?”

It was time. His hand was on the doorknob. Almost imperceptibly, he was inching it shut.

I took a deep breath. “I’ll tell you, but you’re not going to believe me.” I waited; he waited too. But he was listening; I still had a chance.

“I’m from the future. I don’t live in Dallas in 1963. I live in New York in the year 2000. I’m here to warn you, sir, and save you if I can. If you don’t listen to me now… you’re going to die in less than 12 hours.”

Oswald had turned to me in alarm. Kennedy’s gray eyes never left my face while I spoke. When I stopped, hoping, praying I had reached him, he glanced down for a moment, then down the hall. All was quiet, the annoying yellow lights still burning overhead. Like casinos in Vegas, it was impossible to know from the artificial light in the hotel whether it was noon or midnight.

“You’re right,” the President said in that distinctive accent. “I don’t believe you.” He started to close the door in my face.

Before he could, I was talking again, as quickly and persuasively as I could. “Why would I make up a story like that? It makes no sense. Unless it was true!”

His gaze was even and noncommittal, but at least he’d stopped closing the door. “Can you prove it?”
