This is the very thing I've been wondering myself and had planned to blog about but you've said it very well right here.

There is a definite double standard going on here. Only the taboos which have to do with sexuality are forbidden - authors can torture and kill and slice and dice to their heart's content. But let the subject be forbidden love of some sort, well that's a whole 'nother ball of wax.

Plus this taboo doesn't pertain to everyone. I don't see Amazin removing any of VC Andrews' books (which are riddled with incest). What about Fire and Ice books/Game of Thrones series - lots of it there too.

And let's not forget The Bible, while we're at it.

Amazon is in the business of making money. So where do they come off pretending to be a purveyor of public morals? They aren't and shouldn't be. They're a marketplace, pure and simple. A conduit. They need to understand that a book is not a deed. And that reading a book does not mean the reader is going to commit the dead. Or that he/she even wants to. If someone does, then they had those leanings anyway.

Thank you for speaking out! This reminds me of the recent Paypal brouhaha, where they too thought they were more than what they are - a simple financial service that needs to shut up and transfer the money.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share this with my readers!
Julie Lynn Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03574029767523627749noreply@blogger.com
