Neither to me or my friends. Your attitude offends me, your feeling of entitlement. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to read any of it. Do you go into a restaurant that offers free food during Happy Hour and then demand an entire meal because they gave you the appetizer? I don't think so.

The purpose of the flash fiction is to introduce potential readers to new writers, show them the author's style and how well they write. It isn't a free read. If it was, I'd give it to you in its entirety. But it's not.

Not to mention that do you know what happens to authors who post their complete stories like this? They get ripped off, that's what. And then good luck selling that story that someone has claimed as their own!

I'm sorry if you don't get this, but this is a fact of life. Want free reads? I am sorry if my language offended you, but I call it like I see it. I try not to offend too much and generally will ignore a story I simply don't like but I do absolutely detest this tactic and I am afraid it will be used more and more as E-books become more popular. Do you go into other people's houses and insult them there too? That is essentially what you just did to me. And it's also what you did to my friend MA Church, when she pulled her story - after warning she was going to do it - you called her on the carpet because it did not suit you.

I don't just write the flash fiction as an exercise in free writing. It's a challenge, and a chance to write and be read. Some of us choose to write continuing series because we enjoy them, and we like to develop our stories and our characters, and it certainly beats coming up with 52 short and complete stories in a year. But we also reserve the right to want to do more with these stories and characters, to develop them outside of the constraints of the flash fiction. And yes, to market them. It's what we do - we're writers.

So please do not try to tell me what I can or cannot with my story. If you enjoy it, then purchase it when it is published. Do you expect any writer you like to simply serve up free fiction because it suits you?

Also, because I do enjoy writing and sharing my writing, I offer to send the chapters that I write after the story is pulled to those readers who would like to get them. Sorry, but you are not entitled simply because you read it for free on my blog. If you had asked, I would have happily added your name to that list.

I hope you have a good day, and I wish you well, but please do not vent here, because you have no reason to do so. Last time I checked, your name isn't on my paycheck, so please do not presume to tell me what to do.Julie Lynn Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03574029767523627749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6175299018581644634.post-90129289912854784912012-10-10T16:28:39.764-05:002012-10-10T16:28:39.764-05:00Now I'm truly hooked. You've introduced a lot in two short chapters. :DTali Spencerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01580510151991448014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6175299018581644634.post-59982450657314639732012-10-10T11:48:15.536-05:002012-10-10T11:48:15.536-05:00I knew there was something off about that cat, lol...I knew there was something off about that cat, lol. You gave us more hints... Ollie helps ghosts, temporally challenged aliens? I wonder what the sister has to do with anything. Next week! More answers hopefully, and more delicious questions. Are you going to do the same with this story as you did with Trapped in Time? You led us on for weeks and then didn't end it. I didn't much care then because I never really got into the story, but I detest authors that do that; they're like cockteases. If you don't intend to fully tell the story, only give us a chapter or two and then end it. Don't lead us on for weeks and weeks and then pull it.
